Poll: Mosel Vitelic vs. Crucial vs. Infineon vs. KTI

I am about to order some RAM, but I can't decide what to order! :Q

I currently have 128MB KTI RAM at 147MHz FSB@CL3- I dunno if it does higher because my motherboard's settings above 147 are broken (it's like that on all MSI 6309 mobos unfortunately) and I definately want 150MHz FSB+ (160? 🙂 Yeah, I'm getting the iWill board) when I get my Tbird/Duron set up next month (fingers crossed).

So, basically, I will be selling my KTI most likely- but it's in the poll anyway.

Now, here we go- the final 3.

Mosel Vitelic- 2x 128= $130 shipped (ground)

Crucial- 2x 128 (CL2 of course)= $109 shipped (2day)

Infineon- 2x 128= $109 shipped (ground)

What would you get in my situation? Will the crucial or infineon do the 160+ at CL2 or even CL3??

Thanks.

It's just such a hard decision since all are priced so closely. 😱

Trashman, if you go to this link you will get an additional few $ off bringing the price to $90.94. 😉

Thanks though. 🙂

I'm just not sure about 1x 256MB stick because if I did that then I wouldn't be able to use 4-way interleave or sell one stick if I decide I don't need it.

The best ram hands down that i have seen and i have seen a lot of ram is mushkin rev3 or the generic equivilent.
Next i have had good results with infineon but some sticks haven't even done 140 cas2
mosel vitelic is ok but i'd say crucial is better.

To sum it up. If you get a good stick of infineon it is best but you might get a lousy stick. Good sticks might do 155+ at cas2
Next is crucial which is pretty good but have found maxes out about 145-147 at cas2 some go to 150 thouhg.
Mosel is not bad but tends to max out about 145 at cas 2.

I am not really concernd about cas3 since i demand cas 2.

However i have in my pocesion at the moment all three types of memory mentioned about so i suppose i am fairly qualified. Plus i have at least 2 stick of each so my sample set is a little better.

Legal Disclaimer.

However i work for noone of these companies and recieve no payment for this. As such my review is unbiased but is only based on my limited sample set and since i have only tried on about 3-4 motherboards i can make no guarantees. Basically your results will vary. However i hope thsi will at least give you an idea.

Hope this helps 🙂 If i left anything out or you want more details pm me.

I'm a crucial/micron kinda guy.

But for those extreme OCs you are looking at you probably should consider Mosel or even KingMax PC150

I guess ya have....90.00 even better yet....I'm thinkin the same as you...I prefer sticks of 128mb myself.....but then again only 90.00....hmmmmm
As far as your poll goes, I have only used Crucial.

i have reason to believe that NONE of those dimms will do 160+ @ Cas2...

the infineons are tended to be rated @ 143 Cas2, but can possibly do higher...i wouldnt' say more than 150 however...

the crucial might do slightly better, but don't expect anything significant - same goes for mosel.

Forgot to add when I mention cas 2 it's the most aggresive memory timings possible ie turbo plus interweaving 5/7 etc.

For me, Infineon hands down. Havent had experience with the others, but the Infineon I have does just over 150 @ CAS2 stable.

I think Crucial is tough to beat for price/performance/quality/service. I use it almost exclusively, though I haven't tried to OC it.

I voted for Infineon simply, because I have some(2x256mb) and it works great. I don't know if it will do 160@CAS2, or even 160@CAS3, because my P3 700 simply won't go that high. The highest I've tested it, so far is 146@2-2-2, 5t,7t. Maybe I should put my pelt back on my PEP66 and try for higher?

crucial is the best bar none. i had pc100 cas3!!! go 147 cas3. pc100 cas2, did 138 cas2, and 153 cas3. my new cas2 pc133, i dont know havent tried yet but i'm sure its high. Quality is great.

My 3 sticks of Mushkin Rev2 Mosel all do 150 2-2-2 with the most agressive timings...

Most Mosel 7.0ns chips do 150mhz+ Cas 2-2-2 with ease...

I vote...KINGMAX PC150 Best Bang for the buck imo. 😉 Not much of a gamble to get it to run at 150mhz cas2.

2X128 for 128bucks at mwave

Corsair, forget about it, they should go out of business, they're not competitive enough.
MT is Micron Technology, Crucial is a div of MT (so now you should know how good is Crucial), price is even lower than generic with MT chips now.
