this past weekend i was at a bar and i had the chick a $20 to pay for our drinks, she gave me back some change and i tipped her well, but later on that night i noticed i had more money then what i had pulsed. she must have thought it was a $50 cause i had an extra 20 and 10s.

edit: oh yeah, this was about morality. no i didn't go back and give it back.

Stealing the movies because the clerk made a mistake is lame. If the store has bogus late fees and overpriced movies, stop renting from them. Stealing their inventory will not reduce prices.

Your "friend" already got the free rental, WTF does he want with a bunch of scratched discs in rental cases? Returning them is not going to get anyone fired.

Once I went to Kentucky Fried Chicken and ordered a pop. Came to a dollar something and I gave the girl two dollars. She rang it up as $20 so I got $18 and change back. You can bet I hurried out of there as fast as possible grinning to myself the whole time.

Two totally different issues on whether or not you keep the movies or whether you watch them and bring them back with the rest of your rentals. To be totally moral you should explain what happened, they aren't going to fire the person who rang you up over an accident. If you watch the movies and bring them back that is the next moral step down, but not a huge step, you'll still be OK in my book ;). But if you flat out keep the movies, that is just wrong. Anyone with a conscience and any sort of morals knows it is wrong and trying to justify it someway by saying they are overpriced and charge late fees is just plain stupid. IF you do that, you are just as bad as this jackhole about that stole money from KFC.....I hope you got sick from that soda.

Oh give me a flippin break. Stole money? Did I run behind the counter and grab some out of the till? NO. The girl made a mistake and didn't even realize it (I was probably in there a minute after she gave me the change back). And she won't get fired, whatever idiot said that. I used to work at Taco Bell and if the registers weren't exact no one got fired.

"To be totally moral you should..."

You shouldn't tell anyone what to do. Morals aren't something to cram down someone's throat.

BTW, I didn't get sick from the pop, it was very good. HAHA.

At the McDonald's where I work, any missing money over $2 is taken out of your paycheck. Does it make you feel good to steal from some girl making little more than minimum wage?

Just drop them in the night drop when you're done with them. Nobody gets fired, your conscience stays clean.

I'm not telling you or anyone what to do, I'm just giving my opinion what my idea of proper morals and ethics are. Try to justify it however you want. We both know (and everyone else here does as well) that it was wrong. Sugercoat it by blaming it on the girl (yes it was her fault I'll agree) but the fact of the matter is you kept money that wasn't yours regardless of whose fault it was or whether or not that person got in trouble.

that's not cool....someone gave me $60 when i was working on the register, it was supposed to be 40, but the bills had stuck together, i COULD have just pocketed that....but no, i was HONEST about it and gave it back, he ended up tipping me like $10...so i got some $$ and felt good about myself :D

keep them to make up for all the bogus late fees & overpriced movies

There are no bogus late fees, just excuses. Blockbuster gives a couple hours leeway as well. Back when I worked there, movies were due at noon, the box was cleared out and checked in at 2:00, and the store manager signed off on it when all movies were checked in.

Your friend oughta turn em back in, but if ya have to ask what he'll do, he'll probably keep em. Kinda silly complaining about overpriced items and then advocating stealing merchandise, if ya think about it. He should put em in the drop box. Nobody will get in trouble.

Just take the movies back and drop em. And all you guys beaming about ripping off KFC and McDumbalds get over it :(

McDs regularly gives me too much money back and I always point it out to the guy at the till, in part kicking myself, why did i do that?? But some of the peeps on the till gave me free burgers for honesty so that made me happy again.

No kidding. It's disgusting when someone here posts about trying to do something right and gets their ass chewed out for being a goodie-two-shoes.

Did anyone suggest that he just put them in the return chute when he is done with them?
