Poll: Microsoft or Logitech Optical Mouse ?

I would like one w/ crisp buttons, reliable and one that works good with Windows 2000.

Microsoft Optical Mouse
Logitech Optical Mouse

I have the micrsoft optical and like it a lot...but be warned...with any of these optical mice u cant really flick, that's bad for gaming unless u use a high sensitivity

I have both and the biggest differences I noticed are these:
1)Logitech's middle scroller scrolls better but clicks worse (IMO).
2)The Logitech looks better
3)The Logitech has the nice form that most Logitech mouseman come in. Like a bigger mouse to fit your entire hand on.
4)The Intellimouse has a more crisp click for the middle scroller.
5)The rubber pieces on the bottom of the Logitech seemed to wear faster.

I sound kinda anal eh? These are just the things I noticed. I am using the Logitech now and I have gotten used to the middle scroller but I still think the Intellieye has a better middle click. The Logitech looks damned cool in the dark.

Oh and as far as gaming goes, get a good mousepad like the ratpad or sUrface and you shouldn't have any problems.

Hope this helps at all,
skace

I love the Logitech that I have. BTW you can get the Logitech Mouseman Optical here for $25. He had very great service and I would deal with him again. (you could also get the intellimouse if you wanted from him)

My old roommate and my best friend both have MS IntelliMouse Explorers (the Grey&Black ones) the buttons feel kinda mushy to me so I went Logitech, and they have a nice solid click. Using the scroll button as a click is a bit mushy, but the buttons are nice and solid. I like the feel of the scroll wheel click a bit better on the MS, but that's it. Also Logitech adds weight to the mouse so it feels as heavy as a regular mouse (those little balls are most of the weight in a regular mouse), MS doesn't so the mouse feels really light.

If you are concerned about tracking or whatever, they use the same sensor so that's a non-issue. It's just feel of the buttons, drivers and shape.

logitech has more feedback on the scroll wheels, and the buttons are more solid, they don't rattle or wiggle when idle... MS has the loose buttons, not like they come of, but they feel loose, and the scroll wheels are usually very light, "frictionless"...

Hmm, I still can't decide. I have a MS Internet Keyboard so having a MS mouse would go good with it, but If its not as good I dont want it, ya know what I'm saying. Hmm...

logitech build feel is solid, buttons better placed/better shape. I've owned both😛, the microsoft one pissed me off.. thing is light and feels cheap to boot. Logitech one(4 button ver) has a kewl blue led taillight🙂

biglance,

its fine, run in ps2.. the logitech drivers have a slider to bump the refresh from 45-200hz🙂 oh yea thats the other thing logitech has that ownz microsoft.. better drivers😛 u can have multiple logitech mice and configure em separately😛

I have both of them.

My vote goes to Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical. Those 2 extra buttons are really usefull.

I've tried the Logitech Optical but can't stand the lift track, I do quick lift movements in FPS games to reposition but it would always track. Was using a second gen. logitech, anyone know if the MS or any other Optical fixes this issue? For now it's back to my old Logitech S35 & 3M PMS.

nope, sadly 2nd gen is best your gonna get. That lift track thing used to bug the hell out of me,guess i got used to it. i now use a higher sensitivity so i rarely have to do a quick lift. u gotta kinda learn to lift it higher then a ball mouse😛

<< u can have multiple logitech mice and configure em separately >>

Yeah! That's actually really helpful, I have my Opitcal on PS/2 with repost rate cranked, and I have a cordless on USB. When I'm sitting on the couch watching DVDs or something I use the the cordless to control the player 🙂 I'll get a proper remote for my H+ eventually...but it's better than walking over to the 'puter 🙂

Tried both, now I own a logitech one, bought a logitech one for work and all my friends now use logitech (ball and optical)... so logitech are way better

About a month ago I took my 2nd MS Intellimouse and smashed it to pieces with a hammer. Then I poured gasoline on the pieces and torched the whole damn thing. Then I scraped up the remaining metal and melted plastic and put it in a bag and threw it in the harbor. Now I have a logitech ifeel without the feel crap installed and I'm in love 🙂
