POLL: Low-Flow toilets: yea or nay?

We have duals. It's got a low flush to keep things quiet for midnight slashes, but also a niagra mode to rid of those ring-ripping-foot-longs that make you wonder just how it fitted inside you...

A problem with today's toilets is they're close-coupled which means the u-bend is tighter as the whole toilet is closer to the wall. This disrupts the flow and it's harder to get decent suction. With low-flow cisterns, it can often be impractical.

I want one of those toilets from airplanes or cruise ships. They use almost no water and will suck the 'roids off your tush if you're still sitting down when you flush.

I just purchased two Kohler Cimmaron's which work GREAT! I spent $200 each(bought two) and they are also slightly higher(ADA approved) for the physically challenged. Bottom line is that my retirement years are coming up and I am slowly getting the house ready for us. I'm only 50 but trust me, the years go fast...

Don't know why you're buying a toilet... soon enough you'll not notice/be able to move quick enough.

i have to plunge a toilet 2-3 times a week in my house
we have to flush 2-3 times after a load is dumped

they are satan's work and one of the many reasons i hate greenies

Did ya install that side railing system yet?

There are low flow toilets that work better than others. You get what you pay for, also with the air toilets the same deal, there are some that are quiet.

I have all the water I need in the tank. Rather than one of those chain pulls, I have a lever so I can use a lot of water or just a little water, depending on what's getting flushed. The water only goes down while the lever is being held down. Water bill? Water is free for me! (or just about) 🙂 One more nice thing about living in the country (except the $$$ spent on the well)

Yeah the best lavs for flushing are those with the tall cistern that's so high the lever needs a chain on it. The water comes down so fast no log will be able to take the force.

I like em just fine. There's one in the ensuite in the room next to me, and I can flush my s hit with the p iss button easily, it sucks it down pretty good and refills instantly. But maybe it's not the same as you're thinking of. Because this one IS awesome.

Bah, the worst kind are those europeans ones (I ran into them mostly in Germany and Belgium) where there's a big assed ledge that your poo falls on and sticks out of the water.....stinks to high heaven. But hey, they are efficient and you only need one flush.

I dislike the Eljer low flow that came w/ my house (built '98). They do clog easily. I've been wanting something better in a toilet. (Ha). I want one of the taller ones with the deep bowl <- less splatter.
Saw a toilet at Lowes awhile back with some new flush system column thing inside. Forget the name. ~$400 I think.

BTW, search homedepot.com for "Swash 600 White Seat Bidet" (can't figure out how to link it).

I hate low flow toilets; they clog incessantly. However, the super-high-pressure variety are marvellous. You could ram a football down one of them, and it would deal with it just fine.
