poll: lost luggage found?

well, to end my enjoyable trip to japan, my connector home (after customs) was set to fly 45 minutes after i got off the plane. needless to say, i ran all around dalles/fort worth to catch the plane.. barely (yeah, i didn't know about the subway system =/).

regardless, i told the guy at customs taking my bag "my flight is boarding now, and will leave in 30 minutes, can you please make sure it gets on there??" "sure, we'll get it there"

i'm obviously not convinced, but what can i do...

fast forward to washingon national... i'm the last one standing... no luggage.

so, if you've lost your luggage, how long has it taken to get back to you?

worst case for me, the next day

best case, it actually arrived at my final destination before i did!!

i left brussels headed for JFK (NYC) , when i got to customs in new york, my bag was missing, so i thought it was lost

when i got to my final destination (Albany), my bag was already there! they had put it onto an atlanta flight in brussels and it got from atlanta to albany quicker than i got from NYC to albany, i was shocked

Happened twice, both times they brought it the next day. Ugh that is the worst feeling when you're the last loser standing there with no luggage coming out.

Only happened once. Flying out of here on Northworst on a direct, non-stop flight to Detroit.

I get to the airport 90 min. before the flight (this was back in about '95, '96 so even getting there 15 min. beforehand wouldn't have been a problem). Luggage didn't make it.

Got it at the hotel the next day.

Next day or later in the day if it just didn't make my flight.

One time my bags were sent to Hawaii, that took 2days to recover (I was flying into Salt Lake).

You should have it back within 1-2 business days.

You're luck it's Wednesday and not Friday just before a holiday weekend.

I've only flied SouthWest Airlines... and I've had several luggage problems. 2 pieces damaged (in as many trips), and one time my luggage was "lost"... Chicago's Midway to Columbus's CMH. Reported it... told them that I was staying at my grandmother's house (about 70 miles south of the airport)... gave them the address... I drove from there to grandma's house. I got there around 11:00 PM. The luggage was sitting on the porch before 4:00 AM.

is it really lost, or did it just miss the plane? if that's the case, it oughta be there tomorrow. well.. tonight, actually, but you probably won't get it til tomorrow.

i *thought* it missed the plane, considering how much time there was between me handing it off and the plane leaving. the next flight from dallas->washington was later that night... however, it didn't get on that one either... which is scaring me a bit.

Passenger - I'd like to fly to Omaha, and I'd like one of my bags sent to Detroit and the other one sent to LA.

Airline Clerk - Why Sir, we can't do that!

Passenger - Why not? You did it the last time I flew your airline.

Got our luggage lost at SeaTrak (that's the name, right?) and it took us 1 day to get it back, i believe. I was so ready to get my money too 😉

came in on a transpacific flight to LAX, needed to xfer there to a plane going to SJC then to AUS on the nerd bird. i get to the counter, the ticketing agent tells me i'm at the wrong terminal. so i walk across LAX, past the international terminal to the other AA terminal. get to the other terminal, ticketing agent gives me my pass, then i set off to security. in my carry on bag i had a pewter goblet with the likeness of gandalf on it. the security agent looks at it and says
"what is this?"
"its a pewter goblet"
"puter gahwhat?"
"a pewter goblet"
"whats pewter"
"the metal"
"what is it"
"a pewter goblet, a cup"
"from that book?" <points at my copy of LOTR"
"yes"
"oh, i'm not into that stuff"

so i finally find my gate. the ticketing agent comes is waiting there, and tells me that since the plane to SJC is late my luggage probably wouldn't make it over to the next plane, but they have a direct LAX to AUS flight leaving a couple hours later. much as i hate waiting in airports i agree, and he goes over to a computer. then he says something about him being on break so hes not gonna do everything that needed done.

so i walk back across the airport to the other terminal. i explain what the guy had said, the new agent understands, and gives me a boarding pass. i go to wait in LAX, almost falling asleep several times. eventually i get on the plane to AUS. we land, i go down to the baggage claim, and start waiting. all the bags come off the plane. except mine. i go to the baggage counter there and they said my bags probably went to SJC and missed the connection to AUS, just like that guy had told me would happen. so i get in a couple hours later and without my bags anyway. they were delivered the next day.

SeaTac... lol

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

yay, they've had my luggage for two days. they told me to call and pick "option 3." well, when i call, it says "for english, press 1"... then proceeds to a fully automated system, which kept telling me my luggage was still missing.

well, turns out i was suppose to hit 3 when it said "for english, press 1." i listed to that whole menu and it didn't say anything about a third option, just went all to spanish and waited for my input... ugh. oh well, at least i have it now.
