I'd like to know which network cards that people would like to see supported under Klinux

Hey this was a good idea KW!

I found that the IBMs that I talked to you about DO work with the ver. 2.1D client. I just did the manual netconfig, and all is well.
It seems that Klinux IDs that 82557 chip as a eepro100.

So I guess this is another vote for the eepro100 Intel, in addition to the vote I already made for the 3C509b.

support for the Intel Pro 10/100, the 3com 905x TX and the Realtec 10/100 would be a pro for Klinux, I don't now what is supported already but I understand it is an excelent program :)

Hey Kilo it is working fine with my netgear fa310tx card. It uses the tulip driver thats compiled in already. I also use the 3com 3c900b but, I haven't tried klinux on that one yet.

Sorry.... I didn't see mine up there..... so I thought I would add it here......

Farallon PCI Ethernet Adapter.

No I didn't pay for this.... it came with my cable access.

Wolfie, you might want to look at the documentation that came with the nic.

I looked at the Farallon site, but didn't see anyting about Linux.

Oh, sure.. don't put in a listing for the card I asked you about!

How about the D-Link DE220T(rev-C1)?? viztech and I could be using these for RC5!

networkman,
I responded to your question about those nics in a PM reply to the one you sent me.

<< That would depend what chip is on them.

I have a D-Link 220PCT (I think that's what they are) that won't work under Linux at all.

You could try both Klinux-2.1D or Klinux-2.2 and see, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

You might look at the docs for those nics, to see if they have Linux Drivers supported.
>>

If the dang card isn't supported under Linux at all, what would you like me to do?

I'm good, but I ain't that good.

I would have to say that you add support for the following chipsets:

Realtek 8029 series - 10Mbit (lots of these running around at very low prices, made for a crack rack).
Realtek 8139 series - 10/100Mbit (same reasons as above)
Realtek 8129 series - not so sure about this...

Intel cards as mentioned above - reasons include the fact that several integrated motherboards have an Intel chipset integrated NIC.

3Com - 3C509 series - ISA (might have the wrong number)
3Com - 3C900 seroes - PCI
3Com - 3C905 series (note that there is a newer 3c905C card, and an even newer 10/100 card coming from them (3XP I think)).

Netgear FA310 - probably one of their most popular cards at the moment.

vss1980,
The 3Com 3C509 will be supported under Klinux, as there are a lot of them floating around.
All the 3Com cards will be supported in the Klinux-v.3B version.

I did the poll, basicly to give me an idea what nics people are running.
I might drop a few of the less known or used nics off the list.

As far as the Realtek nics, they will also be supported, as there's a wide variety of vendors using their chips.
The Realtek 8019 however, is the one that dosn't have any Linux support at all.

Any nic that runs a generic driver, like the Netgear and Linksys LNTX100's, any MX (Micronics) based, will run the "DECchips Tulip" drivers, will be supported.

<Edit- RC, I believe you. :)

Well, I've used KLinux a couple of times for a quick crack fix and with the covereage of NE2K, Realtek and 3Com I've not hit a card yet I couldn't get working. Not sure about the more expensive cards but these will certainly do for me.
