Poll: KK-266 owners/users exclusively

This is my first attempt at a poll, so if it doesn't work right, my apologies. With all the pros/cons for this motherboard, it is getting difficult to find out just how good this motherboard really is.


I am asking that only people who have actually installed or used this board respond.

Only for the KK-266 board--not the KK-266r, KA-266, or KA-266r

Also, please include which version you are using. (Don't know if you can comment in a poll)

I have the board with rev 1.2. It seems that all of the batch with this version has problem with multipler settings. You could change the multipler by yourself, but my suggestion for you is to wait if you have not buy it yet. If you can live with it, this board ROCK, Stable and Fast with the Turc Overclock BIOS.

what is the Turc bios? i heard someone else mention it. is it a bios compatible with any mobo? does it have the advanced memory tweaks that Iwill lags to put out?

I flashed to the latest bios and I'm still having the same multiplier problems. I'm having other problems as well.

Turk OC is made by some guy in Turkey, and it works only for IWILL KK266. What it does is unhide the memory setting that come with the official Iwill BIOS. From there, you can tweak your memory til your heart content. So far, all the rev 1.2 has the multiplier issue. Some board with rev 1.1 does not. Like I said, just wait until IWill straights their problem out. New Bios from Iwill comes week after week, still the problem is still there.

The question is, are the issues fixable by BIOS updates alone or does it require a minor hardware revision?

To Fido, by changing the multiplier, it means to lock the cpu at a specific number so you can reach 133FSB. The Bios won't do it for you, it makes you feel like you have a lock CPU. For ex, I have a Thunderbird 850. No matter what I do to the multiplier setting (6.5*100,7*100, 7.5*100, 8*100, etc..) in the BIOS, it always boot at default (8.5*100). If I want to reach 1GHZ, by changing the jumper, it won't boost at all, because (8.5 * 133) is unrealistic with my CPU. So, the way I solved my problem is to using the pencil trick and connect the L6 and L3 bridge to fool my motherboard of thinking that I got a 750 CPU (7.5 * 100). Once I boot up, it will show AMD 750MHZ. I shut down the computer, move the jumper to 133FSB and boot up. BINGO, 1000 MHZ on the screen.

i have a kk266 ver1.2 and a factory unlocked 1.2 tbird and its running stable as a rock at 133 at 1200. i like this board much better then my msi turbo...

My 2-cents. Just took my KK266 rev 1.1 back. Was extremely fast and stable for a week. Not sure why, but it all went to hell overnight and started locking and/or rebooting at will. The board has potential, but has a ways to go. Also, no ECC support is a definite drawback. Back to the MSI K7T 2A...

Well its more than week for my KK266 rev 1.1 and it is still rock stable at 140 x 7. Wouldn't trade it for anything in this world.
