is this one of those things where I'm supposed to know what you're talking about?

My California King with a feather top does make me feel rather like royalty.

aren't they roughly the same overall size, with one being slightly wider, versus the other not as wide but longer?

CA king is longer but not as wide as a king

Bullshit.
I'm 5'3" and I need a full just to be comfortable by myself.

If I ever get a relationship with this six foot blonde I've been eyeballing, I'll need at least a king.

If I ever get a big house with a big bedroom, I'll probably go with a california king, even though its harder to find linens for.

I thought the only difference was that a California king was a little longer and a little narrower? We have a regular king, and I much prefer the extra width. I'm ~6'1" and have plenty of space. I might go for the Cali king if I were a few inches taller.

You're right.

Sizes and explanations of King Beds

A Standard King is also called an Eastern King and a California King is also called a Western King. A Standard King is about 4" wider and a California King is 4" longer.

I have a King size and it fits the room perfect.

I would think that in most circumstances, width > length, unless you're NBA player tall.

edit: Us puny, short people could probably sleep sideways on a Cal King for absolutely mindblowing width. 84"!!!

Actually, we find just the opposite to be true. More things are available in easterrn king than cal-king.

We've had a cal-king for years, and when we travel, a queen bed seems tiny.

We've got a king, not a CA king. Don't need the extra length, like the extra width.

When we look for new linens, we find lots of CA king size stuff, and have a hard time finding the regular king.

Anything under 80" long is too short for my tall self. I love my twin extra long at school when the gf isn't sleeping over. However, my girlfriend is very small, so if I had to pick a bed to sleep with her in regularly, I'd choose the CA king because the extra length would do me more good than the extra width.

I once knew a girl who was 6'1". She said she lived with a 6'3" guy for three years, and they shared a Full the entire time.
No way in hell could I share a Full.
