i drove a 92 cutlass supreme for about 7 years
minimal problems, i had an alternator go out twice.
the thermometer for the heater went out
nothing really really major.
i think it had 110,000+ miles on it, i got a new used car and my mom still drives the olds back and forth to work everday.
so...in my experience, its been a fairly reliable car.

Really? I've seen new ones for sale.

yah, they killed the company awhile back.
doesn't mean they wont make em anymore, just means no more new models (haha, oh the irony), and they'll probably eventually phase them out.

Actually, it's 2004 now. Sales have picked up since they announced that Oldsmobile will be discontinued, so they keep extending the deadline.

I don't know, but I may be the only person here that has actually worked for Olds (for 5 years, 1982-1987). I vividly remember back in '83 when Olds set a sales record (1st quarter), where they actually beat Chevy in the number of cars sold. We were all given these plastic license plates saying "Olds - USA #1". Those were the days. Olds had a strong lineup - Cutlass, 88, 98, Ciera, Custom Cruiser, Hurst, 442, Toro. GM was stupid and combined the engineering of Olds, Buick and Cadillac (BOC division) in '84. This created a homogeneous engineering environment where all the cars started to look the same. At the same time, the downsizing of the carlines really hurt Olds. I remember sitting in a marketing meeting where they said that 60% of the cars sold by Olds were to people that were buying the last car of their life, i.e. older car buyers. Well, with the downsizing and move to FWD, that killed many of these types of customers. Olds also abandoned their performance end, dropping the ball with icons such as the true muscle 442 and Hurst Olds concepts, killing that part of their past. They were essentially writing their own death sentence. Many of us were screaming about this, because it was so obvious to us. I remember a conversation with a reliability engineer back in the '84 timeframe, looking at all these late 80s concept cars and prototypes. I said something like "these future vehicles will sure make dinosaurs of our current lineup" and his response (prophetically) was "yeah, but we need a few dinosaurs left around here". How true :(.

The Aurora and Bravada are both good looking vehicles. My buddy's father has an Aurora, and its a pretty sharp car, inside and out - it just should have been RWD and based off its own platform.

My mom had a 1991 Cutlass Supreme...I loved it, and miss it. It wound up getting stolen.

They should keep the cars...just change the name...they can even keep the same emblem...just not the name. Oldsmobile just soudns bad...what young adult wants to drive a car cald "Oldsmobile". Come up with some new name and maybe introduce a new car with it and I think they'll be set. I definitely would kill of Pontiac first...and then maybe Buick.

I absolutely love my Aurora, and was bummed when they discontinued the Aurora last year. They should have cut the Intrigue or Cutlass before the Aurora. Its their nicest car, by far, and one of the most fun family cars to drive.

whats the big fuss about? pontiax or chevy have the same cars with a different badge, and they're not that much uglier.
