My own opinions of the man aside (he's hilarious), I think that he'd win if he ran for president. He's so wildly popular.

Wildly popular != being qualified to lead the country. (Not that I think the current administration is qualified to lead the country...)

However, he's quite funny, and often insightful.

I didn't say he SHOULD get elected, I just think he COULD.

he would get a lot of the 18-30 male vote, but despite what you may have read on the internet, most other people don't really care about him or colbert.

Exactly. He's probably affecting peoples' thinking more where he is than he would as a politician anyway. And making more money. So unless he's into congressional butt-kissing, I'd say he'd stay right where he was even if he was guaranteed a win.

Where's the option for
"great american, sometimes but not very often lets his liberal bias guide his opinions."

I think overall he is very fair, he makes fun of everyone which I think is great, but I do see his bias sometimes.

I wish all his followers were as intelligent as him. To me he seems like he thinks about issues and learns before he makes a decision instead of blindly following whatver the donkey says blindly. I also LOVE that he wants reform and collaboration, not separation between parties.

So, add something in between to your pole.

As a conservative who thinks for himself, I respect him and think that overall he is good for this country.

My Dad was criticizing my generation the other day (in my 20's) for not rallying around folk music or rock or something like they did in the 60's to protest the war and general horrid state of things.

I brought up Jon Stewart as our rallying point... he's not making music, but he's still in the media business and tens of millions of young people (and others) participate in the message that he promulgates. There'll never be a live broadcast from Woodstock, NY that we all attend, but media doesn't really work that way in the 21st century anyway. We just do our drugs at home ;)

How so? I put in an option for "A great American" for a guy who is obviously a liberal? :D:D:D:p

I think Stewart is hilarious. I don't usually agree with him, but I don't think he's a bad guy and I certainly don't hate him.

*throws gas on the fire*

John stewart is for liberals what Rush limbaugh was for conservatives...could both be elected at the height of their populartiy? probobly
I imagine if you would've taken this poll at the height of Rush's career (say mid 90's when his books were coming out and then clinton was facing impeachment) - Rush would've been considered a "great american" at that time as well

these tv/radio personailities that comment on political affairs while leaning on one defined side of the fence usually have their number come up when the next administration arrives. So even though john may look great now im sure once were back to clinton again or some other liberal in the white house his popularity will wain.

Wildly popular? lol He'd fail HORRIBLY if he ran for president.

He's an ordinary comic who lucked into a really good show. That's it. He's not even particularly intelligent.

When funny people get elected.

When people who were funny 8 years ago pretend to run for president in the last gasp of a dying career.

My link was in context to the film, not Mr. Williams' career.

kthx

I love his comedy, but he'd make a TERRIBLE president. He's a COMEDIAN. Should Bill Cosby be president? Sure, he's a great guy, but he's not a politician, and he has no stance on many important issues. How about Jerry Seinfeld? Will Farrel?

I think we all want a competent president, not another hilarious one.
