Bullsh!t. That SelectSmart page is badly flawed. To test, I voted that my candidate would "Oppose the position of NAACP" and Sharpton still got a high ranking. Explain that.

To rid the Government of Ashcroft and Bushes merry band of Neocons. Also with Kerry in the Whitehouse the Republican Congress will start acting Fiscally Responsible if just to spite Kerry.

Agree with most of what you said, but what does the man stand for, other than he's not Bush?

Bastard! 😛

Seriously, as much as I hate the spending going on lately, the rest of the issues matter as much or more. I'd go for a Libertarian in a second, if I thought they could be elected. Last time I did anything like that, I helped put Clinton in office by voting for Perot in '92. NEVER AGAIN!

it's traditional, and respectful to place the name of the incumbent before the "contender" in a political race.

considering that this forum is rabidly liberal....i'm actually amazed the Bush polls this well among this crowd..attaboy W!

LOL, I actually haven't been paying attention. I do know he wants to repeal the tax cuts on the Wealthy and increase them for the Middle Class and Poor.

As much as I think Bush is a disaster I probably won't vote for Kerry. First, since I'm living in Mass it doesn't matter who I vote for as Kerry will get this States Electoral Votes. Secondly Kerry's a Kennedy Mass Liberal and I detest Ted Kennedy. Because of that I am in a position to vote my conscience which means I will probably write in someone who I think would make a better President than either of the two Weasals running. I did that in 2000 when I was living in Ca (wrote in John McCain)

Even if the Dub is re-elected I hope he is bloodied over his fsck up in Iraq. Maybe it will cause him to re-evaluate his position and maybe jettison Ashcroft and the Neocons..though I doubt it. I don't think Bush has the mental capability to come to the conclusion that he might have errored even if the facts are obvious.

It's down to pretty much either Kerry or Edwards. Dean is all but done. Clark has dropped out, and so has Gephardt (my two favs). No matter who they choose would be better than Bush. Since the electoral college all but prevents a legitimate third party, my choices are pretty limited.

I *do* care who the nominee is, but since I already know who it's narrowed down to I know which side I'm going to vote for.

At least that's what I thought you meant the first time. 😉

To tell you the truth, I was routing on Clark for president. But since we always end up voting for whoever congress and their parties like best as a puppet, I have no other decision to make but to vote Bush Jr. for the upcoming election.

I cant believe that you and BradRuth would actually vote for Wesley Clark.
Gimme a fvcking break.
Are you an idiot?
What did you know about him before late last year?
Do you know anything about him now?
Hes a complete joke and so are you.
Do you think he looked cool and thats why you were gonna vote for him.

At least plan on voting for someone that can actually debate, spin, and make shlt up like politicians are supposed to..........😀

Regs response pretty much summed it up for me as well...

Former NATO Supreme Commander. Do you know how much politics are involved in that type of position and do you know how decorated Clark was for being so successful at it?

Clark grew up in the middle class. He did not have a rich mommy or daddy like Bush Jr. Clark took it upon himself to educate himself and become a successful business man without privileges of rich parents. He grew a lot of self interest in many things than just war.

Clark is well educated, comes from a well disciplined background, and has experience and a lot of self interests in many of today's affairs.

So stick a sock in it Ogg, you are nothing but a troll and a nuisance to this thread.

Not to mention he graduated from West Point and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. He also has degrees in Economics and Philosophy. He has served our country (and the world) for most of his life, and he's a man of strong integrity. Sure, he may be a bit vague on his opinions, but he openly admits that. He has responded several times that he could be swayed by strong evidence. Wouldn't you rather have someone with an open mind to the issues than a hardliner who won't budge no matter how strong the evidence is?

My main problem with Bush is his administration. John Ashcroft is a major piece of sh!t, and religious zealots have no place in public office. This guy is an icon to the "Moral Majority," a fanatic right-wing group. And why the hell aren't the Dems playing up the favoring of Haliburton (sp?), Dick Cheney's former company, when they were being heavily overpaid to do the job that our military is now doing. That's fvcking corrupt no matter which way you slice it. And lets not even get into the HUGE deficit and the tax cuts.

That's not to say Bush hasn't done anything right. The way he handled 9/11 was terrific and the consolidation of several agencies into the Department of Homeland Security was a good idea. His emphasis on security is creating a much wider job market for Law Enforcement and we are a safer nation for it. Also, I did support the war in Iraq, but I felt that he didn't give the UN Weapon Inspectors enough time, and was WAY too trigger happy to get in there. I will say that appointing Colin Powell to his cabinet is one of the best things he's done and hopefully Powell will remain in the next administration.

I'm not all that high on John Kerry, and like I've seen here from others I'd prefer John Edwards at this point. An Edwards/Clark ticket would be great, but unfortunately I don't see it happening. To me this is more about the administration and policy driving than the individual candidate. Like I mentioned before, if a different Republican such as McCain or Powell was running it would be a different story, but Bush is the incumbant and as such he is running. Therefore, I'll be looking to the Democrats to push a decent candidate. Balancing the budget, health care, and gay marriage (or civil unions) are just a few of the big issues in this election, and Bush doesn't have a handle on any of them, IMO.

Now that I've formed an opinion on trade, my results are a little different than before (higher % overall)...

Your ideal theoretical candidate. (100%) Click here for info

3. Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat (68%) Click here for info

16. Hagelin, Dr. John - Natural Law (18%) Click here for info
17. Constitution Party Candidate (16%) Click here for info

As you can see, they're all lumped pretty close together, which causes my ultimate decision on which Dem I prefer to come down to character, but no matter who is nominated will get my vote because I share ideology with them more than with Bush.

"Balancing the budget, health care, and gay marriage (or civil unions) are just a few of the big issues in this election..."

Gay marriage is a biggie for you, eh? 😕 And, you actually want national health care, or what? Yikes!

We can only hope...Maybe since he won't have to worry about getting relected in 2008, he won't be catering to all the special interest groups.

You don't think healthcare is an issue?

I'm not gay if that's what you're implying, but it is a civil rights issue. Whether it's marriage or civil unions doesn't matter to me, but they should be allowed to "get hitched."

And yes, I'm in support of national health care or at the bare minimum guaranteed health insurance for everybody. I'm aware of the costs...read the link in my profile if you want to go a little deeper into my opinions.

Which one? The rigs, heatware, or the FS thread? 😕

"You don't think healthcare is an issue?"

Hell yeah, that's an issue, and I sure as hell don't want national health care! Damn!

Gay marriage is a teenie tiny issue that wouldn't help me choose one candidate over another under any circumstance.
