Haven't we all... I get it every time a new piece of hardware is released. Every month then.🙁😀

Month? What world are you living in? Happens to me 2 or 3 times a WEEK!

I don't know if my system is faster then yours but this is what I have

Abit NF7-S V.2 (nforce 2 400U)
Corsair TwinX XMS 3200LL 512MB @ 2-3-2-6 (2.6v)
Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
Antec TrueBlue 480W

yeah I don't think so....I tested a 2500+ barton that I eventually oc'd to 3200+ and it was not much faster then my 2.4clet alone a 2.76ghz processor....

gotta agree there.. with a few exceptions, the barton overclocked to 3200+ speed is outdistanced by my 2.66 @stock speeds by 10-20%, although the 2500 rocks for a cpu < $100.

the fsb is quite limiting. the 800fsb dual channel/ht northwoods have a clear advantage over the barton's.

🙂

is that sarcasm? i guess u missed my benchmarks a while back...

NO REALLY!?!

I can run DC DDR 500 with 2-2-2-6 ... ddr500 = 15 x 250 = 3750 mhz

😀

winbond bh-5 RULE!!!

nice! i used to have a 1700+ that could do 2.5...

amd was so much fun!!!

i went through SOOO many of those darn cheap processors...

now it's WAY too hard to go through so many p4c's... 🙁

No,

While I once was caught up in the keep upgrading all the time try to have a super fast machine I realized it was expensive and also got lazy. Then I started finding myself building a bunch of cheap machines. Currently I have

XP2500+ - stock
Xp2400+ stock
Xp2100+ stock
P3-600
Duron 600 (was at 950)
Dual P2 300@450
Celeron 466
P2-400 Notebook

If you don't need the fastest speed somtimes it is nicer to multtask across several computers (ie watch Tv on one burn CDs on the other DVD's on the third surfe the net on the forth, etc. Only downfall is that the room gets crowded and having 5 computers and monitors running all the time really heats up the room.

Additionally, what would also make an interesting question would be the comparison of home to work computers (what percentage of people have a better computer at home that work. That is one place a speed gap sucks. Several years ago I had a 486-66 with 28MB of Ram on 28K dial-up at work and a Dual P2-300 @ 450 with 512MB at home on cable. Talk about making one drad going to work.

duron 600 here. No reason to upgrade. All games are horrible right now. I played NFS:underground on this comp just fine. I can surf the internet and burn dvd's. No need to waste money.

So what have we learned here? We've learned that Soulkeeper isn't in the top 50%, and that my dad can beat up your dad 😀

why the hell don't you just watch TV on a TV? I've got one in my computer room along with my 15 or so computers - I would not want to waste a computer on that.

i will probably get a 2.8ghz prescott cpu next month

Very similar.

Asus P4P8X (upgrading to IC7 for much higher overclocking ceiling)
2.6C @ 2990 (230fsb)
2x512MB OCZ PC4200 Gold
NVIDIA Geforce FX5600

So faster cpu, faster memory running at slower speed (sadly!), and a slightly slower graphics card.
