No word of a lie, I'm slogging along on a POS P100 machine right now. :(

Of course, the plenty-fast and uber-cheap AMD/nForce2 system I just bought (and is arriving today) will happily beat my old Dell system, and maybe it'll run my Audigy2 sound card properly! ;)

Funny thing is, I sold the Dell sys for MORE than the replacement parts, thus I come out faster and cheaper. Life is good for another day.... :p

and he get +1 for 1.5 GB more of ram and you get +1 for a slightly higher clocked video card??

weird, I know dell makes fancy-r dual xeon systems....Id sure as hell have one of those.

He's got a bit more ram than I....but past the 1 gig mark the gains are minimal (i have a gig)

My 2.6 overclocked will outpreform the 3.00(not .06 damnit)

I have a seagate 120gb, WD 60GB, two IBM 40GB and 3 IBM SCSI 9.1 GB.
totals 287GB...Got him beat.

5600ultra isnt close to that ATI

You can run the 3.06 CPU on a MOBO that supports 800 FSB but the cpu will just run at 533. Bunch of morons over there at Dell anyway.

Wow, I thought multibillionaires kept up with the tech trends... if he's gonna go with a 32-bit processor he should at least upgrade to a p4xe (extreme edition, aint that what the new one's called?) which is basically a 3ghz, 2mb xeon in a p4 package. And 128mb Radeon? Wow, he's a chump. I bet the CEO of emachines has a better computer than him.

*EDIT
Here's my 1337 specs

Athlon tbird 1ghz (I put an athlon fx 51 case badge on my case, so +1 for me)
256mb of RAM (mine's generic so it costs less, +1 for me)
geforce4 ti4600 (visiontek with tv-out, @335/750 fairly stable, +1 for me)
LG 52x24x52x8 combo drive (I don't need to write dvds, +1 for me)
Samtron (it's good for the environment, +1 for me)
Kinyo speakers (but I'll have a homebrew dual 15-inch sub soon, amp, crossover, 1 downfiring lower freqs, 1 forward firing upper sub freqs, so +1 for me)
Cheapo case (but it's white. infer what you will about that comment. +35 for me because it doesn't say Dell anywhere on it)

Oh darn michael, you got pwned, and I only spent $200 on it (sans the ti4600).

It's probably just a bad marketing department. Just like Apple's. :p

He's got me in some things, and I have him in others. I win on CPU speed by a little, he wins on memory, on the graphics card and the sound card, I win on HD's, and he wins on the DVD writer... although with DVD-writer prices falling, not for long. I have (in my opinion) a nicer case, and I personally like my 22" monitor better for gaming after seeing a Dell 1901FP LCD in action at a LAN party.

Objectively, I'd say his is better, but I honestly don't think that I would swap with him if I somehow had the option.

Intel 3.2GHz Pentium 4 w/ HT, 1GB DDR400 ECC SDRAM, Asus P4C800-E, GeForce 4 Ti4200, Hercules Game Theatre XP, 2x120GB HD (mirrored) HD, 2x9GB 10krpm SCSI HD (RAID0), DVD-ROM, PCTV TV Tuner card, 48x CD-RW, 22" Trinitron NEC FP1355 monitor all in a near-silent Lian-Li aluminum case.
