In an office environment where one would have to bring in their own cup/glass, would it be strange to refill a can of soda/pop/coke with water after drinking the original contents?

Bring in a plastic bottle of water and refill that?

Store brand water is dirt-cheap so you could do this every day.

I refill water bottles all the time. I don't like soda cans/bottles, though. Too hard to get the old taste out.

Not really. To everyone else, you just like watered down Coke or Coke all day. Only problem is you'll take an hour to fill the can. Oh, and I was tempted to do that cause I don't have a cup (too cheap/lazy, so I spend $2 a week to buy a cup of coffee and use that).

I bought a bottle of Dasani from the Coke machine when it was the only thing left in it and used it for a couple of years to drink water from. No difference between the water from the water fountain and the original Dasani that I could taste.

Place I work in won't allow you to drink soda out of a bottle, and they require every thing you bring in to be in a spillproof container. Because soda is carbonated, it tends to not work as well in closed containers like that, so you have to drink it out of a coffee cup with a spillproof lid. The computers we use aren't owned by us, they're owned by our client, so they're really strict about it. I refill bottles all the time though, I don't have an actual water bottle so I just refill old soda bottles.

Edit:

Wanna know what's really strange though? As I was typing this I gave my 13-month old the remote, and she promptly switched the channel to CMT, then chucked the remote behind the bed so all the batteries popped out and I'll have to move the bed to get them back. I don't know why, but she seems to want CMT to stay on the TV.

Have I done it? Yes.
Why? I was still thirsty, didn't want another can of pop/soda, and had the insight to realize that quickly rinsing the can and refilling it with water would save me from washing one glass later. Plus, the can is more transportable and can be disposed of elsewhere.

Plastic bottle is better because you can put the cap back on. Aluminum cans are an odd choice but if it does the job, who really cares.

You might want to call a priest about that.

Ok, more background info now that the initial voting has taken place and it's 50/50

Instead of bringing in a water bottle to work, I've been using my empty soda cans to fill up to drink out of. I buy one a day from HomeBrewerDude and then throughout the day I'll fill it up a few times and then recycle it at the end of the day.

The main reason I'm doing this is that I don't want to have to deal with having another bottle of liquid on my desk and I don't want to have to wash it from time to time.

One of my co-workers thinks that it's odd that I'm doing this rather than bringing in a bottle. I don't see what the big deal is for using it again for water.

That is all.

She doesn't want to sign up on AT to give her own thoughts. ;)

Why do you need to have a separate bottle? What makes one container strange and another not? Bringing in a special bottle or cup for water just creates more work. Why have to keep track of a special container when you've got one already? I think she just needs to find a hobby.

Let her enjoy what we call "life" and not get stuck on AT, it's for her own good.

I assumed it would only be an occasional work activity. I think HBD might make it a job requirement soon ;)
