I do it all the time. With me though it is usually a coffee, I will grab a cup grab a few items and pay.

If i grabbed something at the checkout line i would start consuming, but i wouldn't just walk in and grab a coke off the shelf and strt drinking.

Yes it's fine.

Just make sure you aren't so drunk that you forget you didn't pay for it yet, and throw it at a poster of Justin Timberlake that's giving you a weird look.
Then you'll probably be confronted by wal-mart security when you try to leave.

lmao...not that you've ever done that right?

btw, cant say Ive ever consumed first then paid. Couple of minutes of thirst isnt going to kill you

It's perfectly fine. I actually had a discussion about it with a checker at a grocery store the other day. She said it's fine as long as you're not drinking alcohol in the store.

If you're in a huge as supermarket, then it would seem a little odd. If you're on a little corner grocery store, then you're only a couple steps from the front door anyways, so it seems fine.

it's NOT ok to eat bulk peanuts & throw the shells
all over the store like i've seen people do, but
paying for a coke or candy bar at the register
doesn't bother me.

As someone who works in a Wal-Mart supercenter... i see people do it all the time. I don't give a fsck.
The thing is how do you know they always end up paying for it ? (if you were a manager of the store you should care about this)

ive done something similar...had some fun sized candies in my cart but the line was hella long so i opened it and started eating cuz i was a bit hungry. i paid for it in the end. i see ppl do this a lot with potato chips too.

so long as you for it, it shouldnt matter too much. but its not like i make a habit out of this

Do it all the time. Funny thing is when you reach the register and you end up paying for an empty bottle.

I think it's really tacky. I won't let my kids eat something until we have paid for it and left the store. I don't care whether the store minds or not, I think it's bad manners.

no, it's called grazing Link
Well that term only applies to weighed items like produce or bulk candy/chocolate.

NO, that is USUALLY what people graze, but the term applies to anyone eating before they pay.
Hmm not according to your link. "Grazing" at the total cost of your item is causing money losses because it weighs less... that's how I'm taking it.

its fine as long as you pay for the empty/half empty bottle

the moral excuses displayed in this thread seem silly - do you guys only buy gasoline at pre-pay stations?
Since pumping the gas, then going inside to pay for it would be wrong.

ugh...reading skills need some work.

From the link:
Eating before you've paid is nicknamed ``grazing'' by the supermarkets. It mainly concerns items from bulk food and the produce sections because they are not weighed and priced before going to checkout.

mainly != only
