If you're in win2k, ctrl alt del to see when you last logged on. Or if you're on broadband you can go to start >> settings >> network and dial-up connections >> local area connection to see how long you've been connected.

Try writing down the day and time when you boot. Then find the present time, and day. Finally subtract the days, then the military time of the boot up time from the present time and Viola! You got how long your comp has been writing. It even works with all operating systems!!!

EDIT: Uhh nice poll?

look for System Information on your start menu, if you can't find it look for "MSINFO32.EXE" on your hard drive...

then look for "uptime"

If you use ircn for mirc you can type /uptime. I know there is a code for the uptime if you just use normal mirc but I don't know it.

Thanks JonnyJack!

My roommate turned my computer on at 2:40 this afternoon. I left around 2:30. I'm glad he only went to a couple sex sites.

In NT4 and Win2k I go into the Task Manager, then into the Processes tab.

The 'System Idle Process' represents how long the system has been powered on.

That's wrong, Namuna. That measurement is about right if you never do anything with the machine. If you power up, play UT for four hours, and then check the idle process time, it could be only a few minutes.

I think maybe the date/time stamp of the pagefile.sys, or win386.swp should give you an indication ;)

I said Win 98 is unstable. Weird, is don't have "uptime". Goes from "available space on D drive" to Windows directory.
