They've obviously never driven one. Regardless of the looks and size, they drive pretty nice and the Lexus version is downright sweet. I'd take it over an American or Korean car any day of the week.

Still, I voted bleh. I would vote bleh or worse on any American or Korean sedan for styling though.

to me it looks like almost every other person on campus drives a civic coupe..
 
It's ugly, IMO. The concave area on the lower part of the sides of the car reminds me of Bangle's flame-surfacing on a much smaller scale (it's more pronounced on other Toyota products like the Matrix). The taillight cluster is very large and the whole rear end does not work for me (it looks particularly ridiculous with a spoiler). I also don't like the shape of the C-pillar, I think it's boring yet awkward.

The biggest problem, for me, is the proportions of the car. The rear overhang is quite large and that chunky C-pillar makes it look even bigger in profile. The way the beltline of the car is designed also makes the wheels look very small.

However, this car is designed around practicality, not looks. I'm sure those proportions help maximize interior and cargo space. But the exterior design does not appeal to me in the least.

and the rims are way too small for that body.
 
Ride quality and cruising is great on the Camry. Thats the primary thing in long commute, and it sure beats any exterior consideration.
 
I find pretty much all Toyotas and most Lexus' to be either very plain or bloated and ugly. It's a shame because I hear such good things about these cars and I don't find any of the designs inspiring. I want to like them, but it's not the kind of thing I can will myself to do. As if they don't sell enough already, but imagine if they were actually attractive!

I think the GS sedans are very nice looking. Probably the best looking Lexus IMHO. I rented a GS300 once and it is a very sweet ride, luxurious, fast and fun to drive.
 
I consider it slightly fugly. The "round edges" that the Camry trys to pull off don't do anything for me.

Their target audience is old people who just want a reliable car. Toyota doesn't even have any fast cars anymore. Nissan and Honda both do but Toyota's fastest car is slower than nissan and hondas' flagship sedans, without even threatening their sports cars (350z/S2k).

If only they'd bring back the Supra :| It looked like it would have been so damn sweet.

 
I voted "bleh, ok" because while I wouldn't have any problems buying one, it's definitely not anywhere near the most exciting looking car on the road. I think that two models back was the best looking Camry (92-~96) which is what I own. While that car may look big, I assure you, it doesn't feel any bigger than my g/f's Jetta when driving.
 
The Camry is not a good looking car, especially when you compare it to the previous generation. But if you just want basic, trouble free transportation the Camry is so hard to beat. It is so refined and well executed and you'll never have any problems with the car. I can't stand the cloth interior though, it is just so drab looking, I would spring for the XLE with leather. I actually saw a used 2004 XLE V6 with leather (8k miles) that the dealer was asking $19k for (and that's before negotiation.)
 
Camry and Altima look good. Remember that we are talking about a FAMILY sedan. Accord is absolutely hideous. Mazda 6 is sweet

Speaking of long commutes, remember this thread from last year? Well the wifey has been out of the country with work for the last month, and I've been driving her car. It is really the first time I've been able to drive the car for extended periods since we bought it. It's not bad at all. Extremely comfortable and easy riding car. But then again, I'm 37 and I'm not looking to lay rubber between stop lights. 😀
