it's weird how the people who hate him are so loud in this thread while all others (most of the votes) who disagrees represent a silent majority that doesn't feel an impending need to scream at the top of their lungs.

I don't think he's a bigot...he's just a shock jock, roughly on par with Howard Stern talent-wise.

he is defintely bigoted. if you dont think so you either have listened to him carefully or you are bigoted too and just covering up for him.

Your reasoning takes into the preconcieved notion that he is a racist by fact (an opinion of yours). Perhaps you should step back a little and cool off rather than blatantly accusing and labeling all people who disagrees with you as racists. That, i believe might be the first step in becoming tolerant of free speech, and is one both sides of the extreme should learn to accept.

I have trouble believing that most of the people here on anandtech are bigots when such a significant percentage are minorities themselves.

What if we made basketball require that all teams have a set number of caucasion players?

People have been using the term "token white" forever. The rumor goes like this: The majority of fans(white) do not appreciate an all-black team. Whether this is true or not, I have no idea. However, does anybody think Mark Madsen should be in the NBA? The guy is short, slow, clumsy and not very athletic for a power forward. He also is a poor defender and could not score even when Shaq was triple teamed. Yet, somebody still picked him up when he was not resigned by the Lakers.

He certainly is bigoted, but not necessarily in this situation. Basically, what he did wrong here was to drag his tired Political rhetoric into Sports. It's one thing to not think a QB is all that, but another to turn it into his Politics-as-Usual nonsense.

Maybe you haven't noticed the situation that coaches with losing records over a long history keep getting rehired while some people who are qualified coaches aren't getting a chance. It's not just black coaches, but coaches in general. The NFL is like a gentleman's club when it comes to any higher position than assistant coach. There are very few teams that are willing to take a chance. The Redskins and the Bengals are two teams that took a chance on coaches that have been looking for a chance for years. One white one black.

Also not all black coaches are willing to be taken as the "token interview" either. Remember the Lions? I have to wonder if you actually watch football since you are sounding more and more like Limbaugh.

Look where it has gotten the Jets, a whopping 0-4. God forbid if one does not get an interview, then you have Jessie J. and his boys shouting lawsuit.

The reason why the Jets are so bad is not because of Herm, it's because of the players. Please actually watch a few games before you make stupid comments. Rush is full of it and has always been full of it. I don't think he's a bigot. I think he's an idiot. No reason to give him more credit than he deserves.

What if we made basketball require that all teams have a set number of caucasion players? All he!! would break loose. Oh wait that would never happen because nobody has the ba!!s enough to say anything.

Don't tell me the Dallas Mavericks are lacking in good white players. There are good white players in the NBA and white coaches being hired in the NBA. Also players are drafted from around the world. It's nothing like the closed out members only situation that the NFL coaching position has.

Oh, but I do watch football! Detroit still got fined for not interviewing the required persons even though they requested an interview. It's not thier fault that the interview was declined for as you say the "Token interview".

And as for the NBA comment I said "What if" I never said there were not enough. I live in the Dallas area so I know all about the Mavs.

Herm can't even control his players right now. Granted they did loose their starting QB but come on. Their first game was a joke. Every time they had a chance for a first down the stupid play call was always a short rout. And you can't blaim it on Testaverte (sp?)since he was obviously going to his first read.

I do agree about the NFL being a "Gentlemens Club" But every big sport you look at all you hear is we need more minorities in higher positions. I not against minorities, I am against the forcing of it upon us.

Just because I voted that he's not a bigot doesn't mean I don't think he is a Fool and a Blowhard (Which I do)

Donovan is a very good QB. He's not necessarily up there with the greatest of this era, but he's certainly well above average of the current crop of QB's.

I disagree. By the numbers he is just average. Compare his numbers to Brad Johnsons. Johnson has decidedly better stats than McNabb. Mcnabb is running an offense that has never finished better than 10th in the league and was 17th another year and is 32nd so far this year. The eagles defense on the other hand has never been worse than 10th in the league since McNabb became the starter. Last year it was 7th and is 4th so far this year so factually what Rush has said is true. That begs the question why in spite of all the statistical data to the contrary the sports media still portrays McNabb as an elite quarterback which he definately is not.

Chances are most people here have not ever really listened to his program or read his books/newsletters, however instead of clicking "Not Sure" they will click "Yes" because they will fashion an opinion based on what the press has told them.

I think Limbaugh is a tool but I agree with him about McNabb. Overrated for sure. He's Jay Fiedler with legs, not the second coming of John Elway.

I don't think he ever said the McNabb isn't good, he said that he is not as good as he's made out to be = overrated - because of his color.

No, look at his comment. He said that he is not as good as he's made out to be = overrated = because the press wants quarterback of color. His statement was offensive to the press, not to McNabb, although I'm sure McNabb disagrees and thinks he's a good quarterback. (which I have no opnion of either way, not a sports guy)

I voted not sure. I have not been able to listen to more than a couple of minutes of his radio show at a time. He sounds too much like a moron for me to listen to him.

Has he been a fervent War On Drugs advocate?

Who else said it?

Did the commentator say that McNabb was not that good of a QB or that the press was being gentler with McNabb because of his skin color?
