Notice all of the topics lately about racial equality? I wonder why we have them, since IMHO there really SHOULDN'T (key word) be any.
 
It would go sooo much better if we didn't have stupid polls to remind us that it exists in the first place.

I'm not generally in the "celebrate diversity" crowd necessarily, however you don't eradicate the vice of racism from our society by pretending race doesn't exist.
 
there are still racial problems in America, although they are getting better. The question is what race is currently the victim of most rascism. I'd have to say that people associate muslems (not really a race, but you get the point) with terrorism and that is certainly racist. But in reality that is just a small minority, probably about on the same level as christians to christian terrorists (i.e. the IRA).

Considering that I, a white man, recently married a beautiful black woman, I would say that things are progressing. That is something that was rare 20 years ago, and unheard of 40 years ago.

Also, take a look at any statistic concerning the black middle class. You'll find that it is a faster growing population segment than the white middle class.

Are there still problems? As long as there are nutjobs of any race, yeah. There are racists on both sides of the fence. But as a whole, things are getting better.

i, being the authority on flas (four letter acronyms), this is indeed a yart, but neither a fart nor a nart.
 
It's getting worse. People who fight hardest for equality in some ways are also fighting hardest to remain seperate in others. The two can't coexist.

That's not to say things haven't gotten better than they were, I just think things started taking another downward turn in the late 90's and are still headed that way.

I'm one of those types that'd like to pretend that only one race exists -- the human race. After all, isn't that the "dream" of Dr. King?

 
Progressing well, IMO. There are certainly some issues still, but as generation after generation grow up in a mixed environment, the progress will continue.

I just sick of it. I'm sick of it all. I'm sick of everyone's paying taxes that go to the support of agencies that support certain minorities only (who happen to be mostly illegals who don't pay taxes or have insurance in the first place) then those same people complaining about how we don't treat them like they deserve (i.e. the clinic I talked about in the other thread). I'm sick of people pushing me around and trying to make me responsible for things I've never done (i.e. enslave blacks). I'm sick of people complaining that they've never been respected and only get pissed on because they're a minority -and when they do, it's some farking world-class event (i.e. Oscars). I'm sick of people treating me less because I don't want to give minority groups special rights for their complaining.

I'm sick of being me! Can't people just exist together as individuals instead of segregated racial groups!? Anyone who starts talking about racism and pointing fingers, calling out racism at the first sign of someone flipping them off for being an idiot does not deserve my respect, and lights a HUGE fuse in my head.

FFMCobalt is right. The original goal of race in this country was equality and color blindness. Now we are saddled with multiculturalism where every minority is it's own group with entitlements and programs, and whites are the silent matrix in which they form those groups.

To bad it only took them almost 200 years, a Major war and the White Male Dominated Society kicking and screaming and doing everything in his power to prevent it from happening. Obviously our Forefathers who perpetuated Slavery and discrimination were Morons and now we are saddled with the resuits, Minoroities that can't bring themselves to trust us. Jeez based on our track record over the last 300 years I wonder why they feel that way.

And Red, what's up your ass? I have noticed every post you make is some kind of smart ass remark. Is it possible to have a conversation with you in a civil manner? Yet, I have also noticed you seem to say that Tex and some others can't argue and are only out to belittle others. This is an honest question. I am just curious.

Would that be the same White Males that fought and died in the civil war? Or the one's in government that enacted civil rights legislation? Civil rights legislation happened because the constituents of the representatives in Congress were in favor of it. Representatives aren't known for their pioneering morality in the face of losing their jobs.

Someone answer me this: If every minority had their way, would they rather live separately but equally, or live diversified amongst whites and each other?

My hypothesis: Diversity is purely an economic motivation. If all the races were economic equals, you would hear absolutely nothing about diversity.
