I was wondering what ATOT'er opinions were on this particular subject.

Is it in a mans nature to cheat on his wife? or is it just an excuse men make up because they don't want to excercise self control?

to me it is ENTIRELY in a mans nature to try and have as many children as possible. to impregnate everything he can get his hands on. :)

I personally choose not to, am i tempted? sure do i act on it? no.

IF however, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that me having sex with another woman would NOT hurt my wife and kids in ANY WAY AT ALL, would I have sex with another woman? sure. is that EVER possible, no and it would never happen.

I truly believe men are genetically inclined to want to roger just about everything that walks, but thousands of years of society have taught us the behaviour is unacceptable. With that said, it doesn't take much to avoid acting on those urges.

This is human nature, not just man's.

However, it is also in man's nature to fertilize everything that he can. He is programmed to do it. So, cheating is part of that I presume.

Maybe. I think relationships and the typical family structure are artificial constructs. Man wants to impregnate women. That is what he was made to do. Limiting that function can be considered cheating by some. Not articulate today. Or ever really. Stop rambling. Ok, done. I think. Yeah.

True. Just as my cat is programmed to lick his ass after he's finished in the litter box, men are programmed to want to shag when we see a gorgeous woman. We are, after all, sophisticated animals.

I don't know if it is necessarily males, but just humans in general.

Sometimes the temptations for what we don't have within our own relationships are great enough that some people will choose to seek them elsewhere.

Some times it's the same thing that men and women are wanting, sometimes it's not.

For men, it just might be for better looks/younger more energetic women.
For women, they may try and find a man that provides them with some passion and attention that they aren't getting from their spouse.

Is it right? No. Can I understand why it happens? Yes.

Well it's obvious, because men can use their little men any day all day. But women can only encapuslate once a month. Go figure. Men's wee wee's are like virii.

no i think it is more with men than women.

men have the basic instintual urge to procreate. women have the urge to nurture, so that also answers the question about nagging. yes, it is in a womans nature to nag.

Its in man's nature to want sex a lot. If their partner doesn't deliver, some take the quick and easy path of cheating. Others try to communicate with their partner to reach the satisfaction they want.

Either way I think cheating is just a immoral solution to man's instinct for sexual gratification. Cheating by itself is not in a man's nature.

No, we are not. We are but God's chosen, and as such we are obligated to fight the temptation that's so insidiously inspired by the Devil. We must avoid Sin at all costs.

Yes, I think it is. I don't think that because it's natural makes it any excuse though. We do hundreds of things every day that aren't "natural" to us - driving a car isn't natural, locating a restroom before urinating isn't natural, washing your hands before you prepare food isn't natural. You wouldn't really use "it's my nature to just stop and pee the moment I have to" as an excuse for urinating in the middle of your office building. Neither is it an excuse to say that cheating is natural.

Edit: Shiva makes a good distinction between a natural sexual drive and a drive to cheat, however I would still claim that cheating is natural. No matter how satisfied a man is sexually, I do think it's natural for his attention to be claimed by a beautiful woman. I don't think it's inevitable, just natural. And again, no excuse.

you could see it that way. i think it is more instintual and it is mans desire to see progeny, to see as many likeness of himself from as many women as possible.

Its in man's nature to be tempted to cheat. However, will power and abstract thinking are some of the things that seperate man from animals.

So, IMO, no, its man's nature to be tempted to cheat, whether he does or not is a personal choice.
