So how about guys that fix up their cars that aren't rice? A sharp paint job, a little tint, some new wheels and just have a nice looking car? And no, I'm not talking about 20" wheels either, etc just nice looking better than factory mods. Like fixing up an old hotrod maybe?

I think it depends on the situation, if you're just making it look nice its not rice. If you're making it look dumb (6000 fans, or something) then its rice. Its a fine line ;)

But people mod their cars with rice because they THINK it adds performace, right?

People mod their cases because they want them to look cool.

Wrong again. The ricer boys put that on their cars because they think it adds performance. They read some BS in Super Streetcar magazine and immediately buy a new tailpipe to gain 50 hp. Anyone putting in a window KNOWS that it will not increase performance. They don't INTEND for it to increase performance. They just want to be wowed at lan parties.

It's your money and computer, do as you please.

It's not like driving a car and having public judge your car.

Not many peeps will be seeing you puter anyways.

New wheels and a paint job is not rice. Ricing is adding something that has no functionality whatsoever to the car. You need wheels on your car...to a certain extent. You DON'T however need 20+ inch rims on your Civic/Accord. Ground effects and spoiler are useless add on that do nothing but add drag and weight. Stickers? PUUUHLEASE.

No they dont. Find me ONE person with an aftermarket wing, 20" wheels, ground effects, custom paint, or stickers that says they did it to make the car faster.

Well I was thinking from the stand point that I did not mod my case. My case came from the FACTORY with the side window and handle. It came with the power supply that happens to have blue fans.

Ricing is adding something to the car and you think it will add performance. You'd better remove that box of kleenex in your back seat, it's considered ricing because it does nothing to your car.

Whether it is intentional or not, it's still rice. A girl may put on a short, short, short leather mini skirt with her panties showing, a shirt with her tits half-way popping out, and 6 inch heels and walk down the street thinking that she looks sensible. However 9 out of 10 people are gonna look at her and calls her a skank.

Same with rice. No matter what your intentions are with your rice, the fact of the matter is it's still rice to everyone who sees it.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. People add body kits and stickers to their cars because they think it looks cool. If you beleive that they actually think putting a sticker on thier car makes it faster, you're a moron.

Yeah, and they have no sense of ugly or cool. They're trying to glorify their 1 lung go-kart. We're trying to glorify a mean, lean, number crunching machine (or having a sense of humor by casemodding a 386).

So now just because it looks pretty it's rice? Casemodding != rice, end of story.

A box of kleenex is not a blatant attempt at showing how riced out you want to be. A spoiler and ground effects is. Besides, everyone can see your damn 20" chromies, no one is going to see a box of kleenex in your back seat.

Who said anything about looking pretty? 99% of the time, Rice looks like crap. Same for case mods. If you want a fancy case, go buy a Mac. END OF STORY!

I can just see it now The Fast and the Furious II and it has migrated from cars to computers :p.

The majority of todays case mods are rice. Some provide functionality though. I think that guy that put a full computer
in a briefcase, was pretty clever... same for the one who put a computer in a toolbox.

I believe airflow is a reasonable case mod. Not everyone has A/C for their computer room. In the summer time my room gets very hot,
and I am sure the added airflow helps out the computer by giving it a longer life (I keep my computers for a long time). Most servers cases
are fine for cooling because they are usually put in a server room environment where the temperature is cool.

A window in a case is displaying a powerful machine. A blowhole increases cooling. LED mods look nice (on a fast computer). The difference is that we're doing it to a fast computer, and they're doing it to a POS car.

You're taknig a "mean, lean, number crunching machine" and making it glow blue inside because you think it looks cool. They're taking a car, and making it glow blue inside because they think it looks cool.

It doesn't matter if it's a Honda Civic or an Acura NSX, blue neon inside is still ricey.

Not only does it look cool, it also illuminates the interior showing off the key components. I think we should take all muscle cars and paint them poop brown, and strip them down to prevent them from looking cool which could be linked to ricing.

A Civic, or Accord is not a a crappy car. In fact, they are two of the best selling cars in America (Accord #2, Civic #5) are reliable, and relatively inexpensive. The only time they are turned into POS's is when people rice them out.

I applaud you for sticking up for your "rice" but the poll tells the story. RICE!

i think its not ricing to Jmmsbnd007 because he does it, and does not want to be labeled a ricer. You are adding effects to a computer that has no performence improvement but you still want to impress people. Rice. You add something to a car in order to show off and that addition has no performence improvement. Rice.

As a matter of fact, my computer has no mods. At all. Perfectly stock. I added one more intake fan than it came with, though, to cool my hard drives. I am adding effects to a computer that has performance improvement (blowhole). If I added a window, it would be to impress myself by showing off a POWERFUL COMPUTER, not a tiny engine with no power. How do you know that adding a window has no improvement? It reduces weight, making it easier to carry to lan parties. Chew on that.

I think somewhere along the line, someone must've misunderstood when he was asked to make a case "cooler".
