now that the perverted thread title got you in here, should I get my mom a 24" flat screen TV for Christmas, or a 27" conventional tube? They are both about the same price.

i'd go for bigger, does mom really need a flat screen? does quality count? probably not...

or just ask her if she likes em big, then stare at her

not much good if u have to sit 4 feet away;)

i'm sure the newer nonflats aren't horrifically round, probably near flat. but 27" is really the threshold for size.. lower is just too small for most applications. now if its gonna be in an area where u really do sit close or in a bedroom, then whatever.

24 flat, simply because it'll look better in the room as well. it's only 3".

Can't stand curved if it's over 20". Small (18/19/20") curved is fine, anything bigger needs to be flat.

Except monitors where they all have to be flat or LCD.

Go for the flat. Bigger isn't always better. And why does it hato be Toshiba? You might be able to find some cheaper ones from other people/check the Hot Deals forum for any offers.

I have a curved 27" tv and it blows. It's was super cheap so I don't mind it that much but I'd go w/ the flat.

It's not easier on your eyes if it's harder on your wallet. You people just too lazy to click the 27" in the poll? Come ON!!!

Germy, the 24" is actually a little bit cheaper for me.

Whatever is cheaper. I wouldn't buy a new TV right now, with HDTV gaining so much steam. That's just me though.

I voted 27".
