Poll: Insert key usage

Should it be removed/replaced? not that it ever will be...

What about other (infrequently used?) keys such as:

Windows context menu (usually to the right of the right Alt key)
ScrollLock
NumLock
PrintScreen
Function keys

What do you think about the addition of another \ key to the left of the space bar on some keyboards?

i removed it from my keyboard because i used to accedently hit in when trying to delete and that always pissed me off

i use numlock and printscreen daily

and i neef the Fkeys mainily for games

I use windows key+L to lock my computer. I think there was a thread about shortcuts every uses. Thats probably the only one I picked up. Numlocks not so bad. I have no idea what scroll lock does, and I use print sceen on computers at work all the time.

I remember years ago when I'd be typing something in word and my work would start getting overwritten by what I was typing. I couldn't figure out why so I just ended up rebooting. Every time.

I don't user the insert key, pause/break, or caplock. Fortunately on my keyboard, the insert key is placed over next to the print screen button.

This is precisely what I was thinking when I came up with this - well not the reboot part... The folly of overtype mode - it overwrites everything including newlines making a mess of things.

Ya well - it's a silly little poll and yet the keyboard is something we use everyday. A lot of the keys are historical - scroll lock was used in a couple of app's in early '80s. Maybe it should have been something like "Are you satisfied with the current keyboard layouts?"

I used to use it all the time in the DOS/command line days but not so much anymore.

Used to use insert all the time. Now use it mainly to recover from bad overclock settings

I use Shift+Insert 90% of the time (as opposed to Ctrl+V). (Ditto with Shift+Delete as opposed to Ctrl+X)
I have never used the Windows Context key and I rarely use the Windows Key.

I just use ^c and ^v since I can never remember whether to use alt-insert or shift-insert.

I use the Windows Key when I don't want to mess with the mouse.

I forgot to include the CapsLock key - anybody use it? other than obnoxious posters?

Was anybody disappointed when the CapsLock and Ctrl keys were swapped?

I use the caps lock key occasionally since a lot of cad drawing text needs to be all caps.

I'm a bit too young (24) to remember when the caps lock and control keys were anywhere other than they are now.

Take it out. It is a big pissoff when I accidentally hit it in Word when editing and lose a few words cause it's overwriting instead of inserting.

Oh, and you can have the whole "Home" block with Pg up, Pg Down, Pause and Scroll lock (I still haven't figured out what this does).

I use most of those keys, including the Insert key. I like pissing people off with it, especially when they don't know how to turn it off
