poll: If your best friend got into a fight, would you 'step in'

Theoretical situation.. You are with your friend and he gets into a fight w/ two other guys (him against two others) would you step in and help him out, or stay out of it and call the cops? (assume you are a rather small person..)




My bestfriend basically said he wouldn't. I almost got into a fight the other day, (some punk and his friend called my g/f a b!tch.. )and my friend was like dude... don't do that.. cause I'm not going to step in, I might get hurt. he's sort of small). I was like wth dude, I wouldn't even think this would be an issue.

WTF. I was under the assumption that this is just something you do.. your friend gets into a fight.. you back him up. am I wrong?

If the friend who was about to fight is the asshat that started all this, then no, I would not waste my time.

But in your case, your friend is a big slobbering pussy, and that's an insult against cats.

If it was a one on one situation, and my friend was the underdog and getting beat, I would probably get a running start and tackle the other guy.

if my friend got into a fight due to being a complete moron, then I'd try to apologize on his behalf and get him away from there

i dont see it that way. i dont care if he started it. the guy's my friend for a reason and if he's about to get his ass beat, id back him up for sure. but id try to smack some sense into my friend first to prevent the fight from taking place altogether. but if its beyond reason and him gettin beat is a almost certain, id jump in (only where he is out numbered...if its a 1 on 1 fight, let him handle it himself)

Well, as someone else said, if he's an ass, then he deserves to get his ass beat a bit. If it goes too far, I'd step in, no doubt, but I'm not about to step in for a guy if he, say, was groping another dude's GF.

Of course, I wouldn't have people like that in my circle of friends in the first place. But if I ever had to get into a fight without my doing of some sort, I'd like to think that my friends would have my back - to a certain degree.

depends on the situation. i'd try to get him not to fight (unless he started the fight by being a dick, in which case he's on his own), but if say he was jumped or if the fight was unfair (like 2/3 guys against him) then i'd help.

Back in my idiot days, I would've stepped in and kicked some balls. Nowadays, I'll pull my friend out of such situation or try and break up the fight. It's not worth going to jail over some idiot talking smack about a friend's gf. My motivation for this is that I think I would be sinking down to the same low level as the other guys by joining the fight. The friend is an idiot too and I would edumucate his stupid ass for confronting 2 guys.

no ifs ands or buts, yep. I am not too sure how many of you have actually been in fights like this, but you should never let 2 guys beat on your friend. 1 on 1, its all him. Anything more than that and I am getting involved.

One should definitely step in. If nothing else, just to insure that the friend doesn't get seriously hurt. Of course, one should probably try to break up the fight first. It's probably the best thing for all parties involved.

before i say anything, i have to say i despise fighting. especially the drunken bar kind.

a guy we were out with one night at a bar (friend of a friend) started talking sh!t to some dudes we didn't even know, pointing at my friend saying, "that guy could kick your ass." assclown retarded sh!t like that. well wouldn't you know, when we leave the bar, some dude squares off with my buddy and it was on. good fight, as far as street fights go - but my friend came out on top. just as the fight was about to reach it's conclusion, another guy came in and tackled my friend. then i snapped and fought that guy. then when i was coming out on top, i got jumped by a third party as well (and fourth, and fifth - OUCH).

so yes, i helped a friend when he was in trouble. but if i could go back, i would step between my friend and the other guy in the INITIAL square-off and say, "we don't even know these guys. we're drunk. let's go have an after-bar wind down and forget this scene." and i wouldn't have the facial scars to show for it.

fighting is so damned retarded. don't do it! i know a guy that got knocked out and hit his head on the pavement and was never the same - with the FIRST PUNCH! it's never worth it. if you need to defend yourself, that's one thing. but 99% of the time there is a better solution.

Yep. When I was younger the friends I had wouldn't be the ones to start a fight so yeah, I'd back 'em. You have to stick by your friends - you never know when you're the one that's gonna need their back watched.

meltdown has some good advice I think. Fighting is hardly ever fair. You have no idea if you're going to get stabbed, quadruple teamed, whatever. I mean, I'd help my friend out if he got jumped even I'd probably get my ass kicked as well...but if he starts talking sh|t like that smacktard meltdown mentioned, expecting me to clean up his mess, he can shove it up his ass. But I don't really have friends like that.
