I'm flat footed. I wouldn't mind doing non-infantry though.

i'd probably go. but my parents would try very hard to convince me to go to canada or something.

out of curiosity, does anyone know, if you were working and got drafted, how would you get paid? does the company still have to pay you? or does the military pay you for the time you're in service?

for this war.. ugh..

If we were attacked, I would go in a second.

Of course they probably wouldn't let me join anywayz, even if they did pick my #.

I can't believe people are actually talking about this like it's a serious possibility for the near future. LOL! Morons.

If there was a draft and I was "of age" I'd enlist before I was picked so I could get into the branch that I prefer. I likely wouldn't be an infantryman and directly in harm's way, but wouldn't complain if I was.

Ouch my knees! Ouch my back! I do have 4 screws in my knees from ACL repairs, and I herniated my back about a year ago and it still gives me pain. I?d hope those would keep me from any draft.

Would you drive the tank?

give me a break, canada doesn't have a big enough boat to get their tank over there.

Bull. We've got two submarines and a battleship ... in the West Edmonton Mall. :p

No one is stopping you from volunteering. During the Vietnam War many Canadian volunteered in the US army, and I don?t think that option has since change.

I'm pretty sure that during draft the company has to legally keep your job for you now so that when you come back (IF you come back) the company has to give you it. Don't think that was the case during Vietnam though.

I'd willingly go, but I doubt that I'd be allowed. I've got the same flat feet that prevented my father from serving in the military in Vietnam. I've also got a history of drug abuse and treatment for physchological disorders in my adolescence that all five services told me would prevent me from serving when I was looking into it a few years back.

Don?t kid, we have ice bergs that are big enough to land an invasion in southern CA, and FN can be use as club.

I'd go although I wouldn't necessarily be happy. I wouldn't whine about it. I'm in pretty bad shape though, but I'm sure bootcamp would take care of that.

What does flat footed have to do with anything?

If another country invaded the US I would go in a second to defend my family and beloved place of birth. However, I think the war with Iraq is total b.s. so hell no I wouldn't go. The last "real" cause we had was WWII when it was truly good vs. evil. Iraq is not our fight.

I had a draft card and lottery number back when the original draft was suspended and voluntarily did my 4 years in the Navy but if they need ancients like me in Iraq and drafted me I would go. That said there is less chance of the draft being reinstituted as there is of hitting Power Ball.

I have always wanted to fly airplanes. If it happened, I'd probably join the air force and see if they would teach me to fly planes.

I'd go no problem.
Although I would rather enlist and pick the job that I want.

I?ve already served anyway; it helped to pay for college.

If the draft was reinstated, I would enlist before my draft number was called.

I have no problem serving.

If I could ... I would go. But I am too old, too out of shape and have too many things wrong with me.

I think it is an honor to sever this country. I would be following in the footsteps of the great and many that went before me to help shape this great country and allow us the freedoms that most take for granted. For those that think this was is BS, well... any threat is one that is worth taking seriously. The average person is not privvy to what goes on in the White House and do not have the full picture. the future will tell whether we are right or not.

The draft will never happen. It is a ploy by one political party to turn the country against the war. The President has overwhelming support by the people no matter what the opposing party does, they cannot seem to get the tides to turn. Therefore, they figured that if they brought it really close to home... scaring ppl with the draft... they would get ppl to go against the war. By pretending to support the draft, they are hoping to put fear into every family. Nice ploy, but not everyone is stupid enough to swallow that. They will not reinforce the draft unless we are in direct threat at our borders.

Not that the present administration is any better. They chant the same mantra over and over and invoke memories of 9/11 to maintain support for this war. They are as bad as each other. Whenever they want to get the masses to behave like sheeple and chip away at our freedoms, they twist it all around and try to convince us that it is in ou best interest. Like the ICC, gun restrictions, seat belt laws, the UN and much more stuff than can be posted here.

Politics... gotta love it.
