Poll: If you were drafted tomorrow...

Id go as long as they dont mind the asthma. Thats the reason why I couldnt enlist as a Navy Corpsman, I could have tried out for a waiver but I never got around to it. My asthmas been pretty bad so....

Well, it's Thursday now. If I were drafted tomorrow, that would be a cruel blow indeed. But if I were drafted Saturday, I'd just get an agent and hold out for a killer signing bonus.

What a BS link. They infer that US soldiers killed that many civilians to get the public against the war, but never mention that it's mostly Arabs killing Arabs. Then it proceeds to talk about all the refugees and their (iraqbodycount.net) goody goody mission, only to stop short of explaining where the hell were they when Saddam was having field day slaughtering "innocents." BS meter off the charts.

If I got drafted tomorrow, first I'd want to know what team I'd be playing for... because I'd rather go AFC. Then, I'd like to know what position they'd want me to play... and noone better yell out TIGHT END either.

I'd go for it; with my accounting background and (soon to be) legal background, I doubt they'd put me on the ground. Not that I'm afraid of fighting, I'm just not too keen on nation-building.

Guess I would go if I had to but I wouldn't agree with why we were there and therefore probably wouldn't be a very good soldier. Then again if there's a guy shooting at me I'd shoot back with no hesitation.

I would be upset ... but I would go. I would try to get into something off of the front line if possible (ie .. fix computers at the HQ or something) ... but If they drafted me to the front line, I would fight and die for my country, even if I do not agree with many of the politics of the war. (I do not believe we should have gotten in to this war, but its a little too late for that. It risking my neck to serve would help others, and my options were to flee the country, make up an excuse and not go, let somebody kill me or my comradese without resisting, or kill those who wish death upon me, I would choose to kill and I would do my very best..)


EDIT: If they made me an infantryman ... I would want a big big gun ... like an M60 or something. Also, I would get pissed off if they called me private pyle, but calling me a disgusting fatbody would only slightly anger me.

Sign me up. I've lived here and enjoyed the benifits of this country my whole life. This is just one of the possible prices. Just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean it wouldn't still be my responsibilty to go.

It isn't "mostly Arabs killing Arabs" that is what has happened lately but before it certainly wasn't. Read some of the numbers in the database. You could directly link at least a thousand or two of those deaths to US ordinance.

Yes Arabs do kill Arabs there daily with the "insurgencies" but would those insurgencies happened if the war had not existed? :roll: Ever stop to think Saddam wouldn't have killed that many (8902-10752) people in the past year? Do you think he would have? Sure he was crazy but I highly doubt him and his sons had a body count of that many per year...yeah they probably carried out a couple hundred murders a year.

Do the ends really justify the means? Can you weigh thousands of lives spared in the future for the lower number now? I do think more people will live happy and free but would you kill 5 of your friends so that 10 more could live?

Seeing as I have (and still am) seriously considering the military as a post-college option, I think it be pretty much just having someone make up my mind for me. No problem here.


I would be proud to die in the military. I'd rather die for a good purpose than die from some random illness that my old frail body couldn't battle after working 70 years of a day to day job with no overall gain to my life.
