Definitely the cable internet, I never watch TV (over-air or cable). In fact, I have no tuner of any kind attached to my TV.

Funny, I had to face this choice once...

I opted for cable modem. Then I bought a splitter and hooked a line to my television. Blam!!!

Cable modem and "free" basic cable tv for one low price.

I would trade in the cable TV for the internet ANYDAY. I have no internet at home because we just moved and it's driving me nuts.

is that an error by the cable company and you got lucky?
or is that the way it's supposed to be.
I know they used to use filters.

Cable modem. ESPN can be damn tempting. But in the end the only shows I watch consistently are the ones on primetime.

I'd take cable TV + dial up - it is far better than your other option. With over the air TV you cannot and will not get to see what you want - weather channel, most sports, movies, etc. And over the air quality sucks. You may be lucky to get 1 channel that is clear - and maybe 4-5 other fuzzy channels. So you are giving up quite a bit. But with the cable TV + dial up you still get everything you want. A 56K V.92 modem is plenty fast for the vast majority of uses - except downloading movies. And in that case just download the movies at a friend/work/school/library and then transfer it home. You don't miss a thing.
