i had a conversation with a friend on the death penalty, and he always tries to say it stops people from commiting murders. i think this is crazy. I think if your going to kill a person, your obviously not in the right position to do a cost benifit evaluation on the subject. so i asked him if he thought everyone actually WANTED to kill someone, and it was just the law holding them back.

i think i'm right.

nope.. I have thought it over many times, and I would not do it.

**HOWEVER**

I wish I could pretend I did, and try to get away from the cops, and if they ever caught me, they were like "See, we are smart" and then let me go. Because I am pretty sure that I am clever enough to get away with it.

IIRC, psychiatric studies show that it is impossible for most people to "get away" with murder. The guilty conscience from the act of taking another human life without cause torments most people for the rest of their lives. As I also believe in God and the Golden Rule, I personally believe that it impossible to "get away" with murder, whether one is caught by the law or not.
So, no, I wouldn't do it.

i don't believe in god and therefore i believe it's possible to "get away" with murder. although i wouldn't really want to kill anyone. except maybe bin Laden or some fvck like that.

Can you even imagine how hard it would be to kill someone? You'd be taking a life, how could you actually manage to do that?

Do you mean shoot them, st@b them, inject, electrocute, strangle, or what? I don't think I could kill anyone any of those ways, obviously some sick folks feel they could.

(damned forbidden word crap, I was trying to use it in context)

"Click back button and edit work" - "You cannot post or edit a message twice", what is this crap?)

Depends on my reasoning behind the murder. If the guy raped a friend, family member, or someone else close to me, I would do it in a heartbeat.

People grow up (and change) ... and I'm not talking about myself. For their sake, they better have changed.

Imagine this...

A person violently raped your mom. He got caught by the cops and went to trial. At the trial he got a powerful attorny because he was rich and at the trial he was flaunting and laughing that your mom was a whore and deserved it. And of course he got a reduced sentence and was sentenced to 2 years community service.

Your mom can't sleep and has vivid flashbacks about the incident. You see this dude hanging outside at a mall and he's still taunting you.

If something like this happened, then your damn right I would kill that bastard. I believe if the law can't protect you, then you have to take matters into your own hand.

:)

I don't know anybody I'd want to kill (hurt maybe, but not kill) and I certainly don't want to kill someone I don't know (war would be the exception).

Maybe, but nothing like that ever happened to me, so I voted no.

I wouldn't because I have nobody to kill, and the DP has been shown to have no meaningful effect on decreasing the number of people killed vs. non lethal punishments.
