I just don't know why I would switch to a Mac even if more games supported their OS. I don't have problems with Windows. Whenever I have problems they are usually related to some piece of hardware dieing on me or some other piece of software crashing which has nothing to do with the Windows OS.

OS X can burn for all I care. I have 5 Macs too. How many of them have OS X ? None of them.

Please someone tell me why a professional photographer or video editor would use a MAC over PC. Some of the top programs such as Photoshop and Avid can be used on a PC. I see no point in shelling out 5 grand for a Mac when I can shell out the same cash for a custom built PC which would probably be a lot faster with way more options.

I will say I do recommend their laptops though. You really do get what you pay for.
because, pc's are shite, suck dog balls, are unstable, a have zero simplicity for trouble shooting, they have way less hands on maintenance that can be run by someone certified in trouble shooting that will actually "fix" dick, and windows users who think the Avid is somehow 'better' on windows are simply uninformed, uneducated, inexperienced with macs, and don't know shit about the difference between the two systems as far as speed, lack of crashes, lag of playback errors, corrupt media, we could write a book. the fact is your paying for quality, and when your a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER OR EDITOR you know this, because YOU HAVE USED BOTH SYSTEMS, and you use them DAY IN AND DAY OUT. To load the footage your loading when your editing on the fly into ram as you play down your system simply is something that a windows Avid will not handle as well EVER PERIOD EVEN THE TOP OF THE LINE NEWEST WINDOWS COMPUTERS SUCK COMPARED TO TWO AND THREE YEAR OLD MACS RUNNING ON AVIDS OR AFTER EFFECTS OR PHOTOSHOP OR WHATEVER. Y'all have a nice day now, and believe wtfe you want, your wrong. Period.

Taken objectively, Macs are simply a worse and more expensive alternative to Windows to me. The only reasons to get away from Windows are its locked down and costs money. Macs are more locked down and more expensive, plus all of the other drawbacks that I'm sure we're all well aware of. About the only positive I can think of on the Mac side is their support for OpenGL...but I'd say that is a result of path of least resistance or apathy on Apple's part, not a desire to support open standards.

Back when Macs weren't running on a subset of x86 hardware the picture was muddier and you could argue there was something inherently better in their hardware design, but those days are over. The Mac is a custom built PC running. I'll acknowledge some of there hardware is nice, but Apple doesn't have much to do with it. Those are just quality off the shelf components that Apple selected.

I actually don't understand why anyone uses them besides inertia or stylistic concerns. I'm just going to say that the new ones are probably better but I used a G4 back in my college days and it was hands down the worst computing experience I've ever had. And I'm including my DOS days.

They would have to come out with a Mac configured for gaming as well, right now none of their setups would be that great. The best gpu you can get is a 6970M with 1Gb of memory and that only comes with the 27in iMac with a res of 2560x1600. Otherwise you're stuck with a much weaker gpu if you go to the lower res iMacs.

I wouldn't mind using OSX really, I have a hard drive with snow leopard installed on it to use with the PC in my sig as a hackintosh. I tried playing some steam games in OSX but they didn't run so well, it's kind of sad that I would get slow-downs in L4D2 whereas in win7 I get around 150 fps if I don't use vsync.

Anyways I have no problem using OSX or windows, I'm not sure why some people are so rabidly anti windows or anti mac.

I spent about $1800 on my main rig in my signature. If I could get the same hardware with a Mac OSx for the same price and have native games then I *might* consider it.
