hey all, i notice that newegg doesnt sell the fop32, so i want to ask you guys which of the ones they sell is best? im not an extreme overclocker, but would like to mess with it a bit. my planned setup is as follows, all from newegg, excpet for the crucial ram :0

*note...im trying to keep this cheap, as this is going to be my dummy server to practice all of my mcse stuff on.

iwill kk266
duron 750
20 gig ibm 60gxp
hercules 4500 kyro II
aopen cdrom
floppy
Enlight Medium Tower Case w/ 300w PS
256 mb Crucial pc133 c3 ram.

i think that ought to do it!so all i need is a HSF and monitor which ill be getting from staples soon enough!.

thanks for your input!!

well i just did a huge comb-through of newegg.com for a friend of mine who is building a complete system from the ground up. He's getting a 1ghz 266FSB T-bird, and in order to keep everything ordered from one place and the fact he won't be overclocking, i went with the Thermaltake Mini Copper Orb. Its 'rated' to 1.5ghz, dunno how true this is, but it DOES have a copper bottom so it should be better than any stock heatsink. CHeck that one out but i'd suggest if you can stand to not order from newegg, get yourself a FOP from somewhere else.

orbs are suck. do yourself a favor and get a real heatsink from a place like 2cooltek or inflowdirect.

Why do you have to order it from newegg? Go to millisec or plycon (millisec tends to be cheaper) and get a fop32 from them. Newegg doesn't really have anything great for heatsinks.

hummm...I've used many cooler masters with great success. The athlon coolermasters work VERY nice on Intel systems. I replaced my stock Intel h/s fan with an Athlon coolermaster and it dropped my cpu temps by 15°C!!!

no surprise there, even a gorb would work on a celeron/p3. durons/tbirds put out over twice as much power. trust me. i've had both intel and amd systems. (see sig)

I have a Duron 750 on an Iwill KK266 /w a Volcano II, all from newegg. I also used the thermal paste from there instead of the pad on the Volcano. My system is working fine, but at stock speed, so far I've gotten 36c idle / 39c load. I don't think this sounds right, as it seems a lot lower than other cases I've heard about here. But, it's stable so far.
But, know one thing about the Volcano II: the clip is a pain in the @ss to get on! It seemed like I almost crushed the cpu core and nearly scratched the motherboard traces tryin to get that thing on!

thanks for the info guys....i cancelled the coolemster from my order, and oredered a fop-38 from inflowdirect. i have an fop 32 now on my tbird 900, but thats barely overclocked at 1050 atm. i plan to get the duron(hopefully) up to 1100, or at least 1000, after im done with all of the mcse stuff. i guess i felt that you get what you pay for being the coolermaster was 10 bucks and the fop38 was 25.

thanks again,

Thermosonic Thermoengine, arguable the best air cooler for Socket A chips, with 7000 RPM Delta Fan and 3.5g Arctic Silver for 50 shipped here.

loosbrew-
make sure you order some earplugs with the fop-38. I hear it screams like a vacuum cleaner.

well, im used to the sound of the fop32, and i also switched the abit fan n the chipset to one that sounds like a little model airplane running. plus its in a closed room, so i barely hear any of it! i like my fop32, thats why i went with the fop38. under stressed conditions my 900tbird at 1050 barely gets over 40c. maybe 41. so im excited about the faster fan for my new system.

thanks again guys.
