[POLL] How Would the Ecosystem Change if Mosquitoes Were Eradicated Worldwide?

Well it could stop the spread of certain illnesses/diseases... but the biggest change would probably come in the form of the death of critters that feed on mosquitos. Who knows... might have widespread, sweeping changes to the ecosystem.... LETS DO IT! I hate those little bastards.

You guys suck - I live in FL, and I don't have a problem with any of these. Hell - I don't even get bumps or itch after being bitten....

A lot of animals would die. The birds and other insects that eat mosquitos would die, and the animals that eat those birds and insects would die as well. It would be a huge disruption to the ecosystem.

dragonflies would die

I doubt that, I'm sure their diet consists of other bugs+ I don't see how they could eat mesquitos since they can fly.

Both dragonflies and mosquitoes live part of their early life in the water.

So it would also hurt fish.

For over 30 years, I was never bothered by Mosquito bites. And I have lived in areas ripe with them.

But in the last couple of years, something has changed. Now I get huge red welts that itch like crazy.

So trust me, don't make the same mistake I did and be so smug.

turtles and geckoes would die too

Again, would they die out completely, or would their populations be thinned?

Is there any animal that lives 100% on mosquitos?

The big concern, I think, would be the animals that would not die. Mosquitos play a large role in animal population control. I can only imaging there would be some crazy problems.

OTOH, if we can kill them without harming the enviroment, I will send money to start the project.
