Yeah, the nice thing about being an affluent straight white guy is that it's much easier to just say "I don't burden myself with politics". Well, one of the many nice things...
Yeah I'm missing the affluent part lol

But I would still care. Progressive values run through my veins, and have so since I was a kid. Fuck the rich white patriarchy, and fuck the entire GQP party.

Let's beat Trump!

I don't know anything else about his demographics so I didn't comment on that. You are right though.

Not me, I was a misanthropic teen, and if you hate everyone, the Republican party represents that much better. It was a journey, but I'm (generally) a much kinder and compassionate person these days.

I am continually amazed at what I'm capable of, I surprise myself. Certainly I don't think I've figured myself out completely or anything like that.

I can be utterly misanthropic, but my politics have never been about being against people.

Your being sarcastic, surely...
It's an ongoing joke because anytime a Republican is accused of anything that piece of dogshit poster @Greenman will 100% claim we can't know if they're guilty until proven in a court of law and even when it has been he'll claim "no, not like that!"

But then he'll assume the worst about any Democrat anywhere despite there being no solid evidence and no trial let alone a conviction.

Devil's advocate complex.

Did you know Harris slept her way to the top? She even blackmailed Willie Brown after seducing him while he was a married man. Shit greenman has heard and believes about Democrats.

(Harris and Brown had a relationship after brown had been separated from his wife for years)
I have heard this rumor about her but AFAIK it's innuendo more than fact. Having a romantic relationship doesn't mean she "slept her way to the top." Frankly, I think if that were true she wouldn't be VP. Refraining from having sexual relationships does not make a person virtuous, conversely.

Edit: Anyway, I thought we were talking about whether SS did a shitty job at the Rally. What's the connection?

Typical Republican look over there, not in your own house. Trump is an adjudicated rapist, but Kamala might have had a perfectly acceptable relationship. You can't make this shit up.

There are a lot of factors at play - where you grew up and who raised you could be two.

I was raised not far from NYC, and we went there since we were little kids, and I was exposed to lots of diversity and culture. I think that can help a lot. A lot of the kids I know from that town all turned out MAGA - so it depends who raised them, and a lot of people don't even go to the city even when they are just 20 miles away.

I had a father who I did not like much, but he was very progressive and educated and I saw the value in those values, and I thank him for sharing them.

But yet I still have implicit bias. I think racist thoughts. Those were all given to me by society, by our systemically racist system. Because they did not come from my upbringing nor from a lack of exposure to diversity, though I didn't live in it, which is kind of a big deal. My town was basically all white, large Jewish population, some Asians, and like ten black people.

Those thoughts often creep in subconsciously via all manner of vectors. Movies/TV, peers, etc. Very often so subtle you'll never remember the details of the experience, but enough of them collectively completely alter your thinking without you knowing it. That's why it's important to be conscious that it is constantly happening, and you need to be as aware as possible of the tactics that can be used to manipulate people.

Many aren't up to the task. Many don't care to be. Most aren't aware at all.

We were talking about Zin's response to Felix, that's the connection. BTW it's a fact she had a relationship with Brown. But it was just that a normal relationship. The whole "slept her way to the top" trope is one that has been repeated by multiple conservative posters here as a reason they can't stand her.

They're probably highly biased and misogynistic to boot.
