Hey people,
(especially any of you that have good mechanical knowledge)

I have a 95' Black Chevy Camaro 6-speed (one of the last good years) that is basically stock except for MSD Ignition, K&N Cold Air Induction, and Flowmaster 4" Exaust (no headers yet, but I do have a Y-Pipe if I need it).

Right now it has almost 120,000 miles on it and I am getting my engine rebuilt by my company this summer. What stuff should I add on and/or replace to increase my speed without killing my pocketbook???

The engine rebuild will probably total less than 2 grand including labor, and I am willing to put in up to another grand or 2. The best option is if I can get a supercharger off a guy I met at the track for cheap since he sold his camaro and wants to get cash for the charger.

Right now I take out Ford Wusstang GT's fairly easily and seem to run neck and neck with Cobras and Lightnings (only raced a few so far). I'd like to get a bit more of an edge though.....

Also, on a side note, I live in Michigan and last winter wasn't very drivable thanks to big @ss tires and small gaps between treads = no traction in snow. Are there any tires that I could fit on my rearend that would dig through snow enough to get me some traction???

Chevy rules, Ford sucks! :D

Instead of a couple grand spend a little more and make that motor a Stroker. That'll put out you out in front.

Here's the thing about modding the Camaro vs. driving in snow. Virtually all major performance mods you want to put on will really, really hurt you in the snow come later this year. RWD is really, really fast (had an 88 Z28), but that traction is the kicker and snow won't help.

If you are serious about modding your Camaro for performance, the super charger is the major performance hog. Header will help too, but the SC will really rock the car hard.

Before you do that, GET BETTER BRAKES AND HANDLING. There are far too many people putting on more performance for their cars and not upgrading the brakes/handling/steering. If you want the speed, make sure you can handle it and STOP. My friend owns an import modding place and he always get his customers to upgrade the brakes/handling/suspension first before he starts modding it for performance. If they don't go with that, he won't mod their cars.

Personally I like turbo/superchargers, but stroking a 350 is awesome. Takes you to 383 (unless you bore it too you get more) and you've got more power thru the entire range, and without turbolag or a supercharger pulling HP from your crank. THEN go for the supercharger later. This way internal will be maxed out now, and add even more later. Wouldn't you hate to put on the supercharger now, and have to go back later to rip everything apart just to get more power? ;)

I put a stroked 350 into a fiero...OUCH is all I can say. Makes the vettes and such want to cry when a primer fiero toasts them!

If I make it a stroker, will that hurt my gas milage much? I drive alot, and have to be able to get to the next gas station before I run dry....LOL

Your winter handling is pretty much gonna suck no matter what. The best suggestion would be to buy a set of steel wheels and some bridgestone blizzaks or other snow tire to put on before the heavy snow starts. Otherwise, just get a narrower tire in the rear, the wider the tire, the worse it is in snow.

As far as power adders, I've always liked a turbocharger, but strokin' its cool too :D

All mods are about the same, It's based on if you have a lead foot. 383 Strokers are good, it will lower your milage a little as you'll have higher displacement, but the motor also makes up for it abit by being more efficent.

As you can tell I have a blower on my truck and when I cruise or tow my milage is up from stock but when I floor it I have 10 Injectors dumping fuel like mad to keep up with all my air being forced in. Either way performace usually works in that trend.

are you saying you want a piece of me?

i'd get the supercharger... most bang for the buck
if you plan on dying with the car then go all out
Get the most you can out of it then add the super charger and nitris later on

Your too wussy to do the others but your gonna use a bottle??

I watched a guy blow his entire hood off on the bottle.

Bottles are for baby's anyhow ;)

seen lots of people mess their motors up on that stuff.
