Well my hard drive has been going a-wall every 3 months in a continous pattern so I would have to say every 2 to 3 months. :p

I think this is my current record - haven't reformatted since 12/18/01. I hope to make it to the end of the semester, but now my camera is crapping out on me. If I can get this GeForce 4 Ti 4600 from BestBuy (Yes I'm still trying on that & have a raincheck & manager aproval to get one when it comes in stock), I'm going to reformat then.

I'm overdue for a reformat. I think I'll just buy a new hard drive, and use the 20 gig from this machine to build a Linux box.

Used to be every 6 months. Now, with Windows 2000, I haven't in, oh, perhaps a year and a half. It's due, but I might install XP, and I want to buy a larger HD, and possibly a new motherboard/processor/RAM, so for now, I'm just being lazy.

Rarely. I used to do it a bit with Windows 95/98, but with Windows 2000, and now Windows XP pro, I don't reformat for the sake of reformatting at all. If something goes wrong, I will of course.

Wow, what's with you people? I haven't formatted this one since I installed Windows 95 OSR 2.5, I didn't even format when upgrading to Win2k.

How do you manage to screw things up so royally that you need to reformat? I've never seen a problem that bad that wasn't hardware related...and if it's hardware related, a format isn't going to help anyway.

Wow, you should format, I bet you'd see a difference in performance. Is this also to say that you didn't convert your file system to NTFS over FAT32 when going to Win2k? That should be a crime :p Just friendly advice :D

I installed XP just after Christmas, and within a few weeks I'm going to format and go back to Win2k. My advice is to not install XP, but you'll find a hundred differing opnions on that. :)
