I got onto one of those 2405FPW deals last night for $506 and these are refurbs from dell with a 90 day warranty only. Would it be risky keeping this lcd with no warranty? If something were to happen, i would be out $500 easily..

Anyone have had any experience where their LCDs died on them? Suddenly started having problems?

The power inverter or something or other had issues in my Sharp 17" after about one year.

Basically, the screen was black, though if you looked really closely, you could see the slightest outline of the picture.

I forgot exactly what the repair they did stated the problem was, but it's dimmer now than when it worked before.

Okay, i looked at the bill again.

Says POWER/ INV. BOARD

LCD's are no different than any other consumer grade electronic product. Some will have issues some won't, its all luck.
