POLL: How much storage fo you have?

Locut0s

I have 340 Gigs, 2 120Gig WD drives and 1 100Gig WD drive. Some may think that's overkill but it's not, with all the anime, videos, tv edpisodes and roms I download I've already filled a lot of that. Of course I'm trying to burn most of it off now.

most folks here have more than one rig- me included. here's the breakdown...

work laptop = one 30 gig ??
gaming rig = one 120 gig maxtor
kids game/net rig = one 80 gig seagate
24/7 net/media center rig = one 40 gig WD, one 120 gig seagate
plus an external 160 gig for backups

550 gig total

Your poll stops way too soon.

In my lossless FLAC music server I have 650 GB (250,250,120,30) plus 450 GB (250,200) I keep separately and only attach for manual mirroring.

In my desktop I have 280 (160,120). In my retro gaming box (W98SE/DOS/glide Voodoo3 + Aureal) I have 103 (60,43). In my HTPC pile of unassembled parts I have a 120 GB.

So 1,603 GB for me. Plus an old 486 PC in the closet has another 340 MB, woohoo!

Rig1

80 gig Seagate
80 Gig Maxtor
120 Gig maxtor
160 gig WD
-----
440 gigs total

Rig 2
30 gb quantum
40 gb Maxtor
40 gb Maxtor
-----

110 gigs total

Rig 3
60gb WD

2x 80GB
1x40GB (iRiver)
Around 200GB, plus a 160GB and 60GB in another machine (I could steal the 60 gig, not the 160) and 34 + 8 in another machine I can use.
~ 300GB if I wanted.

Main system:

250GB main drive, Maxtor
100GB secondary, Western Digital

Secondary system:
480GB total usable, 4-drive RAID 5, Hitachi drives
160GB extra drive, Hitachi

Laptop:
30GB

Total: 1,020GB

The secondary system is mainly for recording TV shows at high res for later editing. So think around 5.8GB/hour when freshly recorded. The shows are then resampled, and the commercials removed, which puts them at a bit under 2.35GB each.
It also serves as a backup system for all the other PC's on the network - they backup specific folders to it every day.

Rig 5 Server for HTPC

4 X 250gb Storage

1.42Tb total (1.34TB Usable)

4.384gb x 100 = 438gb stored on dvd-r, none are on my hd so that's pretty good don't you say?

dvd makes hd next to useless, more capacity = you're going to lose more if your drive dies on you.
so its just pointless.
I didn't vote cause their is no 0, or all backed up on dvd or cdr.

Older rig: IBM 60 GB + WD 250 GB
Roomie's rig (used to be mine): WD 160 GB
Main rig: Raptor 74 GB + Seagate 120 & 200 GB + WD 250 GB.

1.114 TBs total 😀

In my server (usually I do network install of games) 3x 200 GB, half RAID-0, half RAID-5.

Since I didn't sell the 3x 160 GB Maxtors from my previous array yet I have them floating around various gaming machines. Stupid steam didn't want to install on the network drive so one of them came in handy. Low I have to cope with high load times 🙁

i regret buying a 160gb for 92.00 shipped too soon... should have waited 5 years later from today to somethin' like 1600gb for 92.00 shipped! woohoo, that would be nice 😀
just a waste of hard earned doughs. 400gb of dvd-r cost me only 8.00 bucks.

Lets see....

I have a WD 250 x1
a WD 120 x2
a Maxtor 120 x1
and a Hitachi 60 in my laptop x1

so thats 670 gigs total, and thats just the stuff I use regualry, I have an old 40gb and 30 gb drive lying around that don't really get used much anymore cept to transfer large amounts of data places

Hmm nice to see I'm not the only one with a need for lots of storage. Far from it, it seems. I'm thinking that in my next super rig I'll get even more storage and set up a Raid 5 or 10 setup for the added security. I already know what it's like to loose a lot of data in an HD crash. My 100Gig WD drive went on me after about 2 or 3 years of hard use and with it went a crap load of roms I'd been colecting for a long time, luckily I've got them all back now. I was pleasantly suprised though that the drive was still under warenty and in no time I had an RMAed drive in my hands, thanks WD!
