Please include family purchases as well in your total.

My family started by dropping 4 grand on a computer in 1993 and now is about $10,500, just wondering how our budget compares to others out there.

Personally? About $5000 (within the past 4 years). If you count my dad, add another $4000 (this goes all the way back to the Apple II days, and our first Mac). If you count my brother, put him in the "over $25,000" category.

You want me to go back to the TRS-80, Apple II, and 8086 I owned way back when? I have no friggin idea nor do I want to think about it. More so what scares me is how much money I spent on drinking while I was in the Mairne Coprs.........I hate when people bring that one up.

I don't even really want to guess. :Q

Being a FS/T junkie for 3 years didn't help much.

More than I want to add up and figure out. At least $10K in the last 5yrs... actually the last 2 yrs <$500 but the 3yrs before that I was crazy. Was upgrading something almost every 2 weeks it seemed. Then I started visiting HotDeals and all hell broke loose. Then I got married and bought a new home and now my PC Budget is next to nothing. :(

Tell me about it. It's kind of hard to come up with a figure as I always sold used parts to pay for new parts. These days with the Hardware being able to handle any software and not being a gamer I haven't had the urge to upgrade. I have a P4 1.6A OC'd to 2.1 Ghz and I really don't see any reason to upgrade. I mean what's an extra 300 to 400 MHZ going to give me that I already have? Who gives a rat's ass about Benchmarks, that's for no life geeks without a clue.

$1k-1.5k for me. I have only built 3 computers for myslelf and they have all been pretty cheap (but still fast) My 21" monitor may push me over the 1.5k mark, but I bet I am still slightly below it.

Around $4K. 2k spent on different monitors and the rest on PC components and ready-made ones.

In my lifetime??
I guessed at $9-10k, give or take, though it's probably more.
I remember spending $2500 building a Pentium 200MMX system back when that was the bomb (and later putting dual V2's in SLI in it), and I've built and owned many systems before and since. Nowadays I try to keep my "hobby" in check by not buying quite so close to the bleeding edge... :p

Not much really. Most of my stuff comes from the profit I make selling to others.
