yep, thats my problem as well and it really sucks!!

I probably spend $200 a year on upgrades. However, if you factor in the original cost of major overhauls, I'm guessing it averages $1000 or so per year.

I haven't built a new comp in about 3 years. Still using the same Athlon 1600, MSI KT3 Ultra, and GForce Ti4200, yet some how I do avg. between 200-500 a year in upgrades. <scratches head>
Its all gone towards changing needs for this system. Used to be for games, now its basically my TV and media player. Last year was an 17" LCD. This year it was a set of Swan M200s, a new Audigy 2 soundcard, and a new Seasonic PS.

heh, with this dell 24" I spent over $2,000 on the new rig you see in my sig. Of course, before this I hadn't spent more than gotta be $500 in the past 4 years on computers. So maybe an avg of $500/yr I guess. Not bad considering I use this thing at least 10 hours a day 365. $1.50/day? not bad!

I've always kept my pc budget low. I built a pc up a few years ago for around $600, and I'm still putting it to good use today with a 6600gt and other minor upgrades. If you want to talk guitar equipment though that's where my fun money is spent. Just recently spent around $900 on a Peavey XXX half-stack. If any of you are also into musical instruments you'll notice I went cheap on the equipment too, haha. I'd rather pay $900 for that than $2000 or more for a MESA half-stack. Sometimes I wish reading was my main form of entertainment. All my other hobbies cost too damned much.

Just wondering, why do you have a high end rig but then a low-mid range graphics card?

I probably spend $1200. This year is a little skewed -- had to upgrade to PCI-E board finally, and got a 7800GT to go with it. Plus I bought an LCD which should last a couple of years, my drives for RAID same thing. So I probably spent more like 1500-1800 this year, hopefully more like 300 next year.

just spend $2500 on the rig in my sig, but that's probably going to last for some years, maybe adding a PPU and X-Fi sometime in the future if I get the hardware itch.

well i've only built two computers. my first two years ago cost me $500 total, and the one i built 2 months ago cost me $500 (recycling some parts). so average of $250 a year i guess...
