I just started mine a couple of days ago, since I have been planning to get nearly everyone gift certificates anyway. Most of my family and friends are impossible to shop for. 😛
 
I did it a little early. Begining of November was good for me. Avoid all those Homicidal Maniacs in December. 😀
 
I should get a couple of things yet, but I may not. I have to work a half-day (grrrrrr :| ) today and may not get off in time. Ah the joys of a salaried position!
 
I don't do Christmas shopping. I just give out money or gift certificates since no one ever likes my gift ideas. And a homemade card if I don't like the person but is a close friend of one of my close friends. 🙂
 
Most of our family lives across the country, so we had to get it done early to give the packages some time to get there. 🙂
 
Had to battle the crowds at the last second to get gift cards. I can buy Christmas gifts more easily for complete strangers than I can my own family. 😛
 
The only thing I had to buy was TheGodfather DVD Collector's Box set for my mom. I have another gift, but that goes to someone who posts here so I can't say. 🙂

Took care of mine on Sunday. I was sorta surprised that all the merchants at Bentley Mall and Shoppers Forum were pretty crappy this year, normally they're a lot better. Oh well, found some stuff downtown that should be good.
 
Yeah, Shopper's Forum has been going downhill ever since Super Valu left. We did our last minute shopping at K-Mart, as they were the only major store open until 8:00 P.M. Fred Meyer's really lost out on some last minute business by closing at 6:00 P.M.

Yeah, I was really surprised that Fred's closed early. Safeway also closed at 6, which is really surprising since they're generally 24/7. K-Mart got a bunch of business, so good for them.
 
I think it has become the accepted norm for even the 24/7 businesses up here to close at 6:00 P.M. the night before a major holiday (Thanksgiving/Christmas/etc.). KMart just went to their 24 Hours A Day format recently, so either did not know better, or decided to shake things up for the other retailers by bucking the trend.
