I have 4 at home right now, which is one too many...

1) One server with dual PIII-600's running Win 2K
2) One Athlon 700 gaming maching dual-booting Win98 SE and XP Pro
3) One old hunk o' junk PII-300 running Win 2K
4) A PIII-700 laptop from work, running Win 2K

I'd sell the old PII-300, but I bet that I wouldn't get anything for it.

<< Why's it a waste ? >>

Because running anything DC is for fun, and most of the time is a good cause, and it's not hurting anything/anyone to run it.. it's a waste when a computer with some decent power is doing nothing... I hate coming to work and seeing that my seti production is not running... makes my day bad.. all of my computers should be cracking and hopefully are cracking 24-7 and it doesn't hurt stability or performance, and it gives your high powered CPU's a chance to flex their muscles.. there isn't a hell of alot of use for a blazing fast CPU just for games and surfing the net... DC projects is where your high MHz get to shine.

More fun than a barrel of geeks at a Star Trek Convention

who says they are doing nothing?I don't turn them on unless I'm either watching DVD's, Surfing the net or using them for work. I'm not about to leave them on wasting electricty for some inane geek project.

My PIII 733 gaming rig
Celeron 466 Guest/Family box
K6-2 450@333 cracking SETI WUs for TA
P-90 Collecting dust, I can't find the extra space to run it.

A quick look around my room reveals
2 Socket 7 mobos, 1 Azza 1 Asus
P-233 MMX, K6-2 300
A box of about 10 DIMMS of various sizes and speeds<PC133 I'm sure about half of them are dead though.
A stack of video cards, mostly 2mb Trio64 type.
3 or 4 NICs
A 6.4 GB HD, however I think this drive is dead, or dying, and some old 520 mb drives.
heh I just need a few cases w/ power supplies to put up some more SETI boxes.
