Poll: How many times did you have to take for the Road Test?

Took it once. Passed with missing only 1 point. Forgot to turn my blinker on when pulling out of a parallel park.

To this day, I still don't use the blinker.

only had to take it once, but I came close to not passing. My tester was a complete asshat though. We went over a set of railroad tracks and before I crossed I looked to my left and to the right. When I looked to the right, he was just looking off in the distance daydreaming or something. After we crossed he said "if there was a train coming you know we would have been killed because you didn't check both ways," then he proceeded to count me off.

Passed on first try. Right after I passed, I was driving out of the DMV and subsequently ran over the curb, which in the test is an automatic failure. I knew the teacher person was watching, but I was too embarassed to look back 🙂

Passed on the first try.

Of course here in the middle of nowhere their idea of a driver's test is to make you drive down the highway a bit, turn around, and drive back without killing yourself.

I failed the written (didn't study at all) only to pass it 15 minutes later (without studying again). Shows you how much of a crock that is.

The road test was cake.

3x baby!!

1st time.. i didnt pratice at all... figure if it was so easy how hard can it be... points taking off from all the bad turns i made
2nd time.. lady tells me to go to left lane... left lane cars were all speeding 40+ so i drove that fast to get into the lane... she told me she understands going over the speed limit to get into that lane but cause I continued at that speed... WHATEVER. speeding = auto fail
3rd time.. finally pass.

written test 1x
road test 3x

Failed the road test the first time, because I was practicing all the time with a smaller car, then used my dad's Cutlass Supreme for the road test. Failed because I couldn't parallel park. Took the test the 2nd time using a smaller car and passed.

Took it once, 100/100 perfect score. I never drove like that since (stopped at stop sign, looked not just once, but twice, both hands on the wheel, etc.)

for the life of me I can't remember taking a roadtest. I went to a private driving school (got in an argument with the instructor at my school 🙂)

I think because I had so much documented road time I didnt have to take a roadtest.

3 😱

Once i borked the parallel park, then 2nd time I aced the parallel, then messed up something stupid on the road, 3rd time I aced both.

i failed twice cause i fusked up parallel parking, first time i was too far away, second time i was too close + i bumpd the curb backing in, too close my arse theres nothing as too close, and she says" if someone was standing on the curb and you bumped it you coudl break their toes" that happened to be the stupidest thing i have ever heard, I aced it the 3rd time, and the proceeded to not parallel park for 3 years, and then on the 1st try in rush hour traffic i did it perfectly backed in pulled forward = done

once. i got 98 cuz i apparently STOPPED at a T section before turning left and the lady said i didn't have to. (WTF?) But whatever, I passed.

Just once. I wasn't nervous or anything that day.

IIRC, I got around 80/100. I got marked down on parallel parking between two imaginary "cars" (they were just poles set in buckets of concrete) because I ended up 18 inches from the curb (in reality, I would have tried again to get closer to the curb), not signaling when I left the parallel parking space, not signaling when I left the other street parking space (non-parallel) and not slowing down sufficiently or early enough at the uncontrolled intersections. (The evaluator gave me some friendly advice about that one after the exam, namely that by slowing down too late/not enough, I wouldn't have time to react to another car crossing the intersection at the same time. I've followed that advice since that day, and have found it to be wise advice indeed.)

Once and passed.....test administered by an angry black woman who was somewhat impressed I drove so perfectly. Been in several at-fault accidents since then and overall I'm a lousy driver....goes to show, tests mean nothing.

Actually twice, though I'm not proud of how I failed. Everyone told me I wouldn't have to do parallel parking, but it turns out they were on crack. It's the first part of the test, and an automatic fail if you bump either of the markers. Of course, I had practiced parallel parking, but it was still kind of hard since I was taking the test in a Grand Voyager. Needless to say, I barely tapped the pole in the back and was failed.

So I went back the next day and got a perfect score, and the lady said "You drive very well". TAKE THAT, DPS!

i need an option for zero. i did well enough in my high school class (A on both portions) that i didnt have to do a road test at the dmv

Took it once....passed....never parallel parked it. The car kept dying when I would back it up.

I have a friend from HS that has NEVER passed his after taking it 7 times. LOL
He has his g/f take him to work and to places.
