Ah i get it... except mine is only one row high, and they are all jammed into the same section.

I have 2, no quicklaunch because I hate it, and a 3rd "row" taken up with Statbar. I only use 1 bar, but I like 2 because it looks cleaner and it means the icons on the right stay to the right and don't spread too much. (Win2k)

2. Quicklaunch is on the left, programs on the right. Do you guys really have enough icons to justify using a whole length bar for them?

Yep. Also I have a toolbar for my desktop items on the top of the screen. I have "hide desktop icons when active desktop is enabled" checked on, so I have a clean desktop with no clutter.

I have just one row: quick launch / programs / clock, but I have this on autohide. I simply need all the screen area I can get to be efficient at what I'm doing (I also use the nonstandard 1600x1280 on my 21" monitor for this reason). I could never stand to have mulitiple rows eating up so much of my screen space. And how do you people get the clock/quick launch only on one row and nothing else? Example: "2. bottom is quicklaunch and the language thing. top is open windows"

3, but 0

I guess. :D I have a two-row bottom one, and one each left and right, all set to auto-hide. Works for me.

by bars you mean rows?

2 then. quicklaunch on the left, running processes on the right, but both are 2 rows high. Sometimes the buttons for the individual running processes can start shrinking with 2 rows in 2048x1440, I almost never bother to close anything :p ObjectBar helps this situation immensely with the XP style grouping.

A lot of people I know move the taskbar to the left or right side of the screen, what does that count as? Or what if you drag the quicklaunch off of the taskbar onto it's own floating window?

For an extra interesting taskbar at work, try this:

1. Right click taskbar
2. Select Toolbars->New toolbar from popup menu.
3. Select My Network Places->Entire Network->Microsoft Windows Network-><your domain here>
4. Hit OK.

Alternatively, C:\ is a good choice for an additional quicklaunch directory.

yup

i keep quick launch at the bottom. I tried moving the quick lanuch to the left, right and top .. just didn't look appealing.

2. I have the quick launch bar and I have the address bar enabled so that I can surf and enter web address right from the taskbar. It also keeps a history of my frequently used web addresses so I can scroll right to it. Very effecient for me.
