I HAVE to pray...my parents would call me and my sis into their bedroom then we would get on our knees and pray :( it sucks and I personally think it's a waste of my time...notice I said "personally." I know praying does wonders for my parents so good for them, but I hate it when they drag me into it.

btw, sexepid,

<< I pray everyday, I ain't afraid to admit it >>

aren't christians supposed to pray quietly in their room, with their door closed and not make a public display of it?

If you can count the number of times you have prayed in a day, you haven't prayed enough times.

I like that.

Yes, I try to pray everyday. Sometimes I feel that is the only thing that keeps me going. :)

EmperorNero, even though you may be right. BUT, speaking to Jesus is like speaking to anyone else. If you want a one-on-one talk with someone, would you want everyone to hear it? Having a one-on-one talk with Jesus, or prayer with the Lord works on the same principle, privacy.

you're misunderstanding me, sexepid. one of the four gospels said that whenever you pray, you should go into your room privately and close your door behind you...which means you shouldn't show off to the entire world how "holy" you are...which you are doing here.

Saint Paul urged us to "pray without ceasing." Prayer is not just a gimme list submitted to God; prayer can be a subtext to our entire lives, waking and sleeping.

One of the surprise blessings that I discovered when I become a Christian was the delight of finally having somebody to thank when I see a glorious sunrise.

Okay, I did misunderstand you

I was actually talking about signs and wonders that the Lord performs everyday, which I never stated

Nothing wrong with admitting that, or that I am a Christian.

I don't pray everyday, it slips my mind. I really don't think that's a good excuse, but its the best I got. When I do pray it does help me get things off my chest as well make things right w/God. I'm not a perfect Christian, but I do my best.

I'm pleased to say, "yes" to this poll with my 200th post. For those of you who don't, I hope that you don't have to wait until your in a foxhole to find out you actually do believe in God.

Bulbasaur;

Thank you for the kind thought. Still, I'm quite certain I have no belief in any god and so have no personal need for prayer.

My preferences lead me to embrace other means of relating to Nature.

it's the other way around for most ppl who were former christians, bulbasaur. ppl find themselves in a foxhole and then make up their mind that god doesn't exist because the kind, loving god that we all know would never put us through any crap. I know having difficult times is not a good excuse to stop believing in a god, but a lot of ppl are guilty of this..and so am I..although not to the extent of disbelieving god altogether.

I voted in the poll but also felt a need to respond. I don't pray anyday because I don't have any beliefs as far as religion goes.

I pray every day before I go to bed. One thing that strikes me is that during my youth, I used to pray to the Jesus person of God. As I grew up, I switched to praying to The Father person. I have rarely prayed to the Holy Spirit.

If Jesus was humiliated, tortured and killed by this world, then why are we to assume that Christians will have it any better? I have found some aspects of life easier when I was not religious. I did not feel as tested nor overburdened with the need to do the right thing. However, I have felt much happier as a Christian than I have any other time. I won't get into the debate right now because I don't have the time to make a good arguement now but God does not put things in front of us to torture us. Satan does that if he sees us turning to God. However, I feel I have the necessary strength to overcome it. Prayer is like a shield. I ask for the Holy Spirit to guide me and protect me. I do this on a daily basis with prayer.

I don't pray or go to church - the people who think they do and won't go to hell are wrong. If you do it just to NOT go to hell when you die go to hell when you die - you're doing it as a superficial act and not as an act of belief for the religion. Don't get me wrong, I believe in God, Jesus, and try to read the bible every now and then but I'd be fooling myself to say I would go to church because I truely believe in the institution.

Yes, every evening and whenever I feel the need.

If I read or hear of a tragedy or suffering, I just feel like I have to pray for those involved. It's like a compulsion... I can't help it. I suppose it could be explained as a symptom of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. ;)

The Prayer of St Francis had a profound influence on me growing up. "Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace".

ragingBitch: I'll probably never go to church unless it is a funeral or a wedding. I'm all churched out... can't stand the hypocrites and the self-righteous.
