Poll: How many of you have your PC hooked up to your receiver?

Just wondering....

The only problem with me doing so is I lose my positional audio aspect when I game...my speakers are oriented around my TV not my PC 🙁

I've done it, it works pretty well, although it seems to push a lot more low frequency sound than everything else.

I do...but my room's so small (8'x12'), the only difference is, I swivel a speaker around to face my computer when I'm on it (now), and back when I want to watch a movie.

don't you also lose 3D sound, for those with 3D positioning sound cards (ones with outputs for fronts and rears, like the live and vortex sound cards)???

I recently bought a Pyramid PA-800X, which delivers 800 watts of RMS power. I have two BOSE 801 Series II Bookshelf speakers hooked up to it, along with an 8" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer. When it comes to playing Quake, I just love this solution - especially when it comes to the bass.

I output to the amplifier as well.. I've been doing it since my pentium 75 days, works like a charm, sweet audio setup.

I have a pro logic reciever hooked up to mine....kind of nullifies the need for a good sound card though. I'm getting some speakers that just plug straight into the sound card soon.

Well yes.
That's something I have a PM to dm outstanding about.
I have a daughtercard with digital coax hookups, and my card can drive both two fronts and two rears. I'm wondering how the hell I would hook it up to get 4.1 sound, and if the digital coax line will carry all 4 channels.

let me know how the receiver/3D sound thing goes.

3D sound was one of the main reasons I bought the Altec ADA885's, so I could hear from which direction them bastards were coming at me from 🙂

I hook up my SB Live to my Kenwood VR-407, which have AC-3 and DTS decoding, so I just hook up via Digital coxial output, and I hook that up to 2 Infinity Cresceno 3006 speakers which I think when I was new it was like $400 each, I got the pair for $94 =)

I don't care what people say about no 4 point speaker or oh no surround sound. My pairof speakers when benchmarked against my friend's Klipich it beats it hands down.

I have an SB Live on the PC outside in the living room, have the digital out on that hooked up to my receiver so I can listen to all my MP3's on my big system. That PC is networked to my PC in the bedroom, that's where all my files are.

better yet, is it possible to hook up a SB Live Plat 5.1 to a receiver and get surround sound out of it, the way the sound card thinks it should sound?

Thanks!

I only broguht my HT sub to my computer 🙂
Adds a bit a kick to CS, but it's not big, plus theres monster standing waves in my room, so I barely get any bass anyways.

I do. Have it hooked up to a Nakamichi Receiver 2 and AR15s. I'm getting some Sennheiser headphones soon for better positioning. 🙂

I've had my PC/receiver setup for 4 years now.

3d sound: My 2 speaker setup gives great 3d sound using A3D. The only downside is that you need to crank the volume for the 3d effect, so I usually use my cheap Sennheiser headphones for serious gaming.

I hook mine up to the receiver because I have crappy built in sound. It doesn't really matter to me but when people come over its nice to actually have something people can hear. Also, how would i piss of the neighbors if i didnt hook it up to something louder than these generic speakers?

I once hookep up my holywood Plus DVD decoder (DD/DTS) to my receiver to watch DVD movies. Simply awesome! Never use it for games; I don't play games cuz I suck at it even at tetris 🙁
