Just curious :). I personally can't seem to use my ring finger with the right click, but I'm sure some people are able to.

I use my middle finger for the rightclick...

I don't have a fancy mouse, just a scroll mouse and 2 buttons optical, so I don't have a use for my thumb :).

BTW, I tried the mightmouse out at the apple store and all I can say is that IT is not worth the 50 bucks. 2 gripes with it. First is that the little ball is too small and I can't rest my finger on it. Second is that the lower buttons you are supposed to click with your thumb and ring finger is soo hard to click... They should have made it easier..

I have my thumb on the left side, my index on the left button, middle finger on the right click, and the other two fingers on the other side of the mouse...I use the index finger for the wheel.

Just to point out to you guys, the thumb option is for using with the extra buttons. If you have a regular 2 button+scroll mouse, and use 2 fingers, pick option 1.... At least thats the way I think the OP wanted it.

Mmm, interesting. Looks like there's at least one person who's able to use their mouse three-fingered. Wonder how you would pick it up though...thumb+pinky? I would think that'd be pretty hard, unless it was one of the MX500-518 ones with the side grooves.

I use thumb for left side button, index for left and middle(scroll) buttons, middle for right button and ring finger for right side button. Although I don't use the right side one much as it doesn't feel as natural as the left one. Next mouse will be the logitech cordless click! plus as it has two left side buttons.

Interesting responses. I used to use index finger = left button, middle finger = right button/scroll wheel with my smaller two button Logitech, but after switching to a MX500, I've been using the index finger for the scroll wheel instead of the middle finger because of the unusual curves.

Index finger controls the left button and scroll wheel. Middle finger controls the right button, and sometimes the scroll wheel - it depends on which one happens to be closer, and if I'll be using the scroll wheel as a button too. Thumb controls the thumb button (imagine that). Ring and pinky fingers enjoy the ride - I have inadequate fine-control of those two fingers. Side to side movement is especially lacking in the ring finger.

Mouse is a Logitech Dual Optical.

Same here. I'd really like to hear from one of the people who answered that they used 3 fingers as to how they're able to pull that off. Not only the fact that I lack dexterity/responsiveness in my ring finger, but there's also no way I'd be able to pick up the mouse by squeezing it only between my thumb and pinky, esp continuously for extended periods of time.

3+ Thumbe for me at work 2+ thumb at home. At work I have a 5 button Intellamouse with a forward/back button on each side. Thumb on left side button index for left button and scrolling middle finger for right button and the fourth finger (don't know its name) for right side button. At home I use a Logitech with forward and reverse both on the left side so i can use my thumb for both.

Youve made me self-aware. Never thought on this before but i use two fingers. If i had a thumb button i think it would get used as theres a big space of distorted plastic where i keep hitting with my thumb and theres no button.
