Poll: How many DVD's do you own ?

deftron

Lifer

I don't have alot of CD's, rarely buy any anymore ...
But when it comes to movies I like ..
I feel like I have to own the DVD.

Not sure exactly why...has alot to do with quality, though..
With music.. a good MP3 is hard to distinguish from an original CD
However, with movies, I feel like DivX and SVCD just don't cut it...
They just can't compete with DVD's beautiful anamorphic picture with 5.1 surround sound..
Not to mention tons of extras on loaded DVD's
Even older movies with only stereo sound or barebones disks..I prefer over a copy
There's just something about DVD's
I think I'm addicted
My collection is over 100 and steadily growing 😉

Over 300 thanks to DVDTalk.com

Average price per DVD is around $8 including shipping

I've decided that since I never watch any of them and 90% of them are still shrinkrapped, I'll be selling about 200 on eBay for around $10 each plus shipping.

ColumbiaHouse junky ?

I used to do that till I got lazy and forgot to decline directors selections 😉

Have you jumped on the Borders deal out now ?

Buy 2 MGM disks ..get one free

Its mostly for the titles that are $11.99

So 3 movies for $24 equals 8 bucks each... sweat deal... I picked up 9 titles 🙂

I think watching a movie more than once is a complete waste of my time. So I pay the $1 to rent it and I'm done. I can't see forking over $15-$20 for a movie. And if the movie was worth watching more than once, it will be on TV for free...

Here's my DVD list

Do you guys count by disk or title ?

I have a few box sets (Decalogue, Sopranos, Simpsons, etc..) and a buch of double disk dvds

I count box sets and double disks as 1 DVD

Ameesh - YGPM

deftron - I have DVDProfiler but haven't entered in all my DVDs yet but will do that in the upcoming weeks. That will make it a lot easier to keep track of what I own and what I'm selling.

so many that I end up frequently giving away duplicates that well meaning family members give me as gifts.. lol, don't know what to buY that geek ,why don't ask her what she'd like just give her a copy of "The Matrix" 😀

I don't know if you have tried dvdaficionado.com,
but I found it alot easier than dvdprofiler when entering alot of DVD's
You don't have to enter the UPC code for each disk...just the title.
Also, you can see thumbnails of all disks at the same time.

I never enter UPC codes for my DVDs, I scan them in with my FREE CueCat barcode scanner which I got from my local Radio Shack B&M. I forgot why I chose DVDProfiler.com over DVDTracker.com and dvdaficionado.com but so far I've been really happy with DVDProfiler.com esp since I don't have to manually enter in all the friggin' UPC codes 😀

So how long have you been a DVDTalker?
Do you know if Blade still posts there? If not, do you know why not?

I've been a member of DVDtalk for about a year...

Isn't Blade the Administrator there?
I'm pretty sure he still posts 😉
