Three accidents:

Two were my fault:

1) tailgating a car that suddently stopped for a schoolbus trying to make a left in a 2 lane road with no lane designated for turns. Man I was stupid and inexperienced back then - shouldn't be so aggressive on those roads.

2) rear-ended a car while at a stoplight... my brakes failed (yup, they did) - not even a tailgating issue.

The other one some UHaul renter sideswiped a $14 part of my wheel well and I claimed insurance for a tiny bit more than that. ;)

Only ONE of those was actually in a nissan! My dad ran over somebody walking down the road. Snow on the road and he cornered to fast and gently plowed into the railing and then bumped into her. She was taken under the front of the car but absolutely unhurt!

1st: An old guy didn't see me moving 2-5MPH. He accelerated through me.
2nd: I was sitting in my bedroom.
3rd: I was sitting in the back seat of the car that hit me.

Zero in 19 years of being the passenger. About 90% of the time my Dad is driving and I don't think he's been in an accident in about 25 years.

4... if you include the time when I woke up to find a huge dent on my hood which I still have no idea how it happened.
All were minor though, the worst was probably this

I t-boned a guy going about 60mph. buckled my hood, pushed his doors in (late 80's Grand Marquis) about half way across the drivers seat. Worst thing was, it was a dumbass mechanic taking a car he was working on for a test run. H was pulled off the the side of the road and just quick whipped out in front of me. It was pretty fvcking awesome to say the least.

Another time a friend and I hit a bridge rail and ripped his Camaro to pieces

Yet another time I was whipping donuts in a wet hay field. When I went to take off, I forgot about the turn in the path and slid into a plow going about 25mph.

One other time some dumbass merged into me on an icy street. We traded paint and I wound up in a snow bank. The bastard kept driving and I never got anything out of the deal.

After thinking about this I guess I'm lucky that I've never been hurt.

1. When I was 16 my dad bouight a new truck. I bet a bunch of my high school buddies I could jump a big ditch at school with the truck (like in a commercial). Gunned the truck up a ramp and landed... on the nose of the truck. Looked like something from a Bruce Springsteen album cover.

2. Lost control on a very wet road. Car went through a brick wall, flipped upside down and flew through the air backwards taking out someone's rare garden in their yard. Totaled the car and didn't get a scratch

3. Having "discussion" with girlfriend, backed into vehicle in parking lot. Minimal damage

4. Drivng down road at about 40mph when some poor fool in a VW bug pulls out in front on me. I T-Boned him big time. Two cars totaled. I don't even get a scratch. Guys in VW get creamed (go to hospital). Odd thing was eye witness who swore to cops that it was me who pulled out in traffic. Luckily cop also saw wreck and told him to ah heck off.

5. In Spain stopped at a light, guy behind me couldn't wait for the green light. So he tries to pass me by driving on the sidewalk. My rear bumper catches the side of the front of his brand new car ripping all his sheet metal from front to back. I get no damage. It's his fault so I'm ready to split but he insists on waiting for cops. When cop arrives (it's a women) turns out it's not his new car, it's his wife. Turns out the lady in the car is NOT his wife. He tries to bribe cop- he gets in big time shiit. I leave.

6. Back into convertible so small I can't see it in rearview. Monor damage

That's my 30 years of driving!

Two, but never in a car. I've been hit by a car twice while on my bike. I guess this thread shows how lame our car-obsessed countrymen (and countrywomen) are. :D

I've been driving since 1970 and have been in five accidents.....one of which was my fault.

1. 1971, car pulls out in front of me...says he didn't see me. It was at dusk and I only had my parking lights on. I wasn't charged.

2. 1976, I ran a stop sign in my Fiat X1/9. Had the top off and a bit of cigarette ash flew up into my eye. I cleared my eye out just as I was even with the stop sign...got hit in the driver's side and did about $2K in damage (in 1976 dollars). Initially I was charged, but the other driver, unknown to me at the time, had been drinking and was subsequently charged with DUI.

3. 1986, I hit a German Shepherd on Christmas Eve around midnight while I was riding a little Honda CB200. I had on a full Bell helmet (the kind that had a very small view port on it....much smaller opening than full helmets of this day have, so vision wasn't the best. The dog pops out from behind a spruce bush and darts into my path. I saw the dog a split second before I hit him, throwing me over the handlebar and onto the road. Bent the front forks, got a good case of road rash on my right leg. Thankfully, I was wearing a helmet because the next day we discovered a crack in the helmet where I had hit the curb with my head.

This was in a residential neighborhood and what brought the neighbors out to see what the matter was was the dog screaming. When the bike was pulled off the dog, he ran away without any signs of injury which he must have had. The next morning, while examining the bike and finding the forks bent, we noticed fur burned onto the right header pipe as it exited the motor's head. Apparently, the bike landed on the dog with the exhaust on somewhere like his neck. The exhaust pipe was burning the dog which is why he was screaming.

4. 1990, Pony Express van ran a stop sign in front of me. I tried to swerve to the right to avoid (whe was coming from right to left) while standing on the brakes, but I pretty much broadsided her. Over $3500 in damage to a 4 month old Grand Am....was a nice car, though. While its Quad 4 HO engine was not the smoothest thing around, it did have some power.

5. 1992, I was stopped at a traffic light in a GMC Jimmy. Idiot never tried to stop and just plowed into my rear end. Did about $2500 damage to the Jimmy, but his beater Chevy Luv had both fenders peeled back almost to the doors along with the hood. Guess that Class 3 hitch on the back fo the Jimmy was worth the investment because it took the brunt of the impact.

i fell asleep at 1 am when i was 16 years old

i went off the road going about 35 mph and plowed into a telephone pole.

the good news is that there was a pond on the other side of the telephone pole

the bad news is that my friend riding in the passenger seat was not wearing his seat belt, he broke the windshield with his forehead, but didn't bleed all over/no hospitalization
