my w2k pro takes like 40 secs or something to boot. my winME (with barely anything installed) takes no more than 10. thats pretty fast considering how old my puter is

My install of w98SE from spash to full load. Takes ~15sec (I auto logon, and start netdetect and dnetc that's all). My parents 95C splash to full load in ~13sec (auto logon, and no startup items).

I just do not believe this! WinME sounds incredible!
I thought 24 seconds for Win2000 hibernated restore was pretty good too.
I think a lot of you are cheating.
BTW the more RAM you have the longer it takes to check it.

Why so many Startup items? Going for a record?

This is kind of pointless.. bootup time increases with the number of cards and stuff in the system. I've timed my system and it just gets slower the more i shove in. With a tv card/scsi/sound/network/modem, 3 harddrives, 2 optical. 33seconds.

Hibernate is actually slower than booting up for me. Besides, it has been making my system unstable recently. I'm gonna have to do another format soon, once i get a new harddisk, that is.

Are you guys counting in 5-second-intervals? Mine takes 2:10 from power and 2:10-:39 from splash screen. It just sits 50% of the way through splash for about 1:20 of that. No idea why. I've seen that before on win2k prof though...

my computer used to tkae like 5 minutes to boot, but then i took a bunch of things out of my startup and only left the things which i needed. That cut my boot time in half or more, and then i got a new processor and it was light speed

DHCP enabled :( On top of that it is sharing an IRQ with my sound card. I ought to move it to another slot....maybe that would speed things up. Any thoughts on the hanging with the loading bar 50% across?

thanks
