yes. did that, crossing Z, and changed my 9 to look less like 4 in high school (idiot physics teacher couldn't see that every 4 had an open top and every 9 had a closed top, so when the middle horizontal part of the 9 crossed the vertical line she freaked out and called me to her desk to ask if it was a 4 or a 9. happened several times). also changed 8 to be two o's on top of each other.

no. I write my 7's in a pretty basic way; I can't imagine how anyone could confuse it with another number.

I don't put caps or footers on my 1's and I leave my 4's open.

Yes, cross 7's and Z's.

Write 9's vertically, not like this ---->9

Sometimes write 1 with the notch on top and the line below. Sometimes without, but never just the little notch on top *only*. 😕

Sometimes I close my 4's and sometimes I don't........have no idea why....😕

Sometimes I do two o's for my 8's and other times I just do the figure 8. I can write them as neat as day unless I think about it. If I think about 8's too much, they look like crap........again, no clue why.....:confused.

Oh.............and sometimes I notch the tops of my 2's and 3's.

Lastly, I sometimes write 5's like an "S" and other times finish them off with the top line after first writing the middle & bottom.

6 is the only number un-fooled-around-with by my barbaric butchery of numerals.........😛

For those who say that its not nescecarry I reccomend trying to read off stuff written by other people, you might be able to read your handwritting fine, but other peoples is much harder, and when we are talking about engineering calcualtions it is vital that the correct numbers get read off or big time mistakes can happen.

I don't think it was required at the engineering company I worked for last summer to cross sevens, dot zeroes, and cross "Zs", but everyone did it, and so do I, it just makes it that much easier. On a somewhat less related topic, I also use many different script letters and greek letters in engineering calcualtions. I use a different "T" for time, torque, parametric equations, and normal text. I use differnet "F" for fourier transforms, generic functions, or standard text. Use different "L" for Laplace transform, length, and text. And of course pretty much ever greek letter upper and lower case has some meaning which I use. Like upercase delta is for a change in a quantity, lower case delta is the dirac delta function, or partial charge on an atom. Uppercase sigma for summation notation, lowercase for resistivity, stress etc.

I guess it isn't really all nescecarry, but the way I feel, the mroe different symbols you use, the less chance you mistake one thing for another.

Yes. So they don't get confused with a 1. Yes, my writing sucks.

I cross Z's so they don't get confused with 2's.

I add a tail to t's so they don't get confused with + signs.

I add tails to "rhos" so they don't get confused with p's.

I probably do other things, too.

Same here. I started crossing 7s in college and crossing Zs my 2nd year. I never did this before. I have no idea what prompted me to change. It's probably cuz my 2s look ugly as with the rest of my handwriting

7's, Z's, and 0's, though I usually have to write in a statement with the zeros mentioning that I'm not referring to the empty set (which should have a giant slash through it, not just within the 0)

I always cross my sevens, and sometimes zeros for clarity. I know some people in Europe write ones like most Americans write sevens, so it helps to cross it.

My handwriting sucks so bad, I had to call a friend to find out what our homework was cos I couldn't read my own notes 😱

I draw all the extra bits for 0, 1, 4 and 7 cos it's easier for other people and myself to read.
