Anyone ever take Greek? It would be interesting to hear how a native or someone close to it would say. I picked HEE-RO since its the closest to what I hear. I took a little Greek in high school and I think that there is a "hard breath" at the beginning of the word. Who knows, I could be way wrong.

I think you're correct. I think it's a cross between the H and Y sounds. Exhale quickly and softly before the Y sound. It almost sounds like HYEE-ro.

It probably depends on who you're speaking to and how lazy they were that day.
